I grew up in a real small town in Misery [oops, Missouri], I was harrassed on the bus because of the way we dressed. Also teased because I wasn't allowed any type of extra school activities, and everyone pretty well knew I wanted to.

i had to travel to a town 2 hours away from where i live yesterday.
i'm thankful that my mother actually came to drive me there and back and was supportive in that regard.. however, she insisted on playing her "draw close to jehovah" tapes all the way there and all the way back!
i obliged (with my blood pressure through the roof by the time we got there - thank goodness i was on pain pills all the way home).

I'm so sorry you had to listen to that crap. Being a nurse, I know how important it is NOT to be stressed before surgery!! IF there's a next time, maybe you could take a walkman to listen to. Or maybe, you could say the tape player's busted. I can only imagine how your head was ready to explode!!!
I think if there was a next time, I'd say you'd listen to hers, if she'll listen to yours. And I'd have something good to listen to. Some good hard rock, or some new age music!!

i have watched with sheer amazement all day the work of the emergency services; their sheer dedication and professionalism and skill will no doubt prevent & reduce the further prospect of fatalities....i think they deserve a huge round of applause...if ever i have had opportunity to be patriotic it is now.... what do you think?.

Of course, I'm partial to the nurses!! After being part of the Red Cross Diaster Team and being at the OK city bombing 2 hours after it occurred, I know the hearts and the skill that must have been displayed, with no second thought to their own safety!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!

hello everyone, i have been keeping up with posts on this board for about four years now, been a member for about one year but have never had the courage to make my first post.
so now i'm going to make that first step to get rid of that fear i had of betraying myself, and vent my experiences and frustrations with this faith.
i think this board will be a good way for me to make acquaintances of people with similar feelings that i have regarding the jehovah's witnesses, as well as a good outlet for my frustrations as a jw, and get some advice as to maybe getting a reasonable exit strategy in the near future.
Welcome!! Didn't it feel good to let some of it out?? I was molested by my stepdad, who was a MS. My mom knew and looked the other way.

here's a nice little side benefit of being raised a jw then leaving; having to search the obituaries of the local paper once a month hoping that your dad's name does not turn up.
it's doubtful that any of my "family" would even let me know, so, i know it's morbid, but i look in the local paper each month and hope that i don't see his name.... j
I do the same thing a couple times a week. My dad's health is bad. I figure I won't be mentioned in the obituary, either.
maybe i am at the end of what seemed like the worlds longest day, but i swear it seemed like there was so much hocus pocus going on at work today that i thought i would go mad.

i've heard from the "society" that prescription drugs under a doctor's care is acceptable regarding the "keep your body clean" excuse they give smoking.
what about medicinal marijuana, which is legal in some states and gaining popularity?
i've checked the dub "library" and found very little.
I personally know of several oncologists that have told their patients that marijuana is the best thing for their naseau they have during chemotherapy. I've had patients that couldn't function without it because of this.
