i use firefox on windows xp, and do not cut and paste, but type directly into the box.

I, too, use Firefox and hate it. Just lazy to do what's needed to make my I.E. work like it used to. I, too, seem to get an extra carriage return (displayed, but not in the editor) for every time I hit the Enter key.
I uncheck the "Check here" box and check the "Automatic Cr/Lf box.
I just updated my Firefox today. Let's see if it still behaves.

although it was a privately issued request, jwd news has obtained a copy of the formal request issued monday from one of watchtowers dissident factory workers.

In a move not surprising to ex members of the pervasive sect known as Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society issued a censorship request to Google -- the world’s largest internet search software company. Although it was a privately issued request, JWD News has obtained a copy of the formal request issued Monday from one of Watchtower’s dissident factory workers. The unpaid Bethel headquarters’ employee has been working at the Society’s printing factory for some three years.
The request for censorship nearly mimics the one that the Chinese government successfully obtained for Google servers that are based on it own soil. It effectively filters any sites harboring information with anti-Chinese phrases, sentences, and slogans.
The Watchtower request promises to provide Google with first and last names of all its adherents in addition to the necessary IP addresses of each, providing such members have home computers.
The New York based billion-dollar corporation effectively shut down a prominent dissenting Canadian web site only weeks ago.

how "worldly" friends are so much more loving than the so called jw "friends" (which we don't have anymore).. next i'd like to talk about the changes the "society" has made in recent years, how it's so hard to keep up with things now, it changes all the time.. can you help me with a list of changes and some wt references that i can discuss with him?.

by Scully ini don't know if you have been following the story about james frey, author of a million little pieces, how the book was inducted into oprah's book club last fall, with him making an appearance on the show, proclaiming the "memoir" as completely true and unaltered.
she even delayed announcing her next book club selection by six weeks to give this book more publicity.. some investigation by the smoking gun revealed that many of the accounts in the book were embellished beyond any recognition of truth.
for example, the incident where frey claims to have been in jail for 3 months, was actually only a matter of hours.

Extremely well done, Scully. You drew a great parallel between the two situations.
When it all hit the fan, my respect for Oprah had descended. After that follow-up show, however, I felt she totally redeemed herself. She did the right thing.
With the WT, history has proved that doing the right thing is no longer a possibility. Their structure is comprised of pompous behavior and a self-righteous pretense of superiority. They are an ocean barge overloaded with garbage and sewage. To change directions or to stop quickly is beyond all known laws of physics.

Unsuccessful fade aided by Gestapo?

My nephew by previous marriage told me an interesting experience this past weekend. While he had never been baptized, his sister had been years ago but was trying to fade. She moved from Iowa to Kansas but she made the mistake of giving her street address to her mother, still a JW.
Within weeks of her move there was a knock on her door and she could see through the security glass that it was probably a pair of JW's. She didn't answer.
After several of these incidents over a several-week span there was another knock. Same thing, a pair of JW's, she was certain. Again, she didn't answer but at that moment her phone rang. It was her mother, "Why aren't you answering the door, Mary (not her name)? The brothers are there to help you."
Yes, she answered her door under duress and is, again, attending the meetings to try to keep them off her back.
Sounds like Gestapo techniques to me. -
