help me out here since i've been away a long time.

it seems that the society used to criticize some jewish set of documents (was it the talmud?

) that were so laboriously complicated and voluminous, unlike the simple principles that true christians, jw's of course, were now under.

Disfellowshipping somewhat voluntary?

isn't being disfellowshipped or disassociated a voluntary thing, in one sense?

i mean, when a person is deemed by the judicial committee as truly repentant, there are less harsher disciplinary steps.

in cases where there is no remorse, yes, the committee has no choice.

this from one of 1,367 similar stories that grabbed google's new headlines: "last week at least 16 people in afghanistan were killed in violent clashes sparked by the report.

", all thanks to the recent newsweek reporting blunder.

those of us who love freedom of the press, and i'm included, have to question -- what line was crossed between responsible reporting and that which incites other people toward hate -- hatred enough to kill 16 people?

Lastest ref to Motherly Organization?

if we are to walk in the light of truth we must recognize not only jehovah god as our father but his organization as our mother.

i think it's based on a 1957 wt.

Prayer and privacy

i'm a newbie here and i'd like to hear what you think about public prayer.

jesus gave us the guiding, "when you pray go into your closed ...", etc.

one of my biggest turnoffs when i was a witney (no offense to eli, one of the greatest inventors) was going into a restaurant with my family and having to offer thanks, publicly of course, so all could see how good we were and ask about that assembly badge on our lapel.

Snubbing after DF and child estrangement

i?m doing some research on disfellowshipping, disassociating, and the simple resignations of people from the watchtower society ?

jehovah?s witnesses.

i?m especially interested in the effects it has had on the parents and the children who become estranged by the snubbing rule.
