hello guys & gals!.
we've just launched our brand new episode, s01e01 - irwin zalkin, which we recorded last night.. you can listen to it right here - http://www.jwpodcast.org/2014/11/03/s01e01-irwin-zalkin.
in this ground-breaking bumper show, we interview irwin zalkin, the lawyer who filed and won this new child abuse case against the watchtower organisation, which saw the victim, jose lopez awarded $13.5 million.. i think you'll agree with me (after listening to the interview) that irwin really knows his 'watchtower' stuff!.

i hear people saying it is not the same religion that i knew.
what is the major difference?.
.
They also do not seem to hound those who no longer attend meetings or have changed religions like they did when I was in (1982-1992). My son is now an elder, but my two daughters have nothing to do with the religion.
One of them has been married twice and is currently "shacking" up and she has not received one visit from any elders.
My other daughter told my ex-wife than she "no longer believes that crap" and she too has never been approached.
i have received a link from a friend of mine, he is a baptist pastor.. link address is here.. the article title is: if you dont think the jewish exodus from egypt was real, then watch this video and think again.
the important or interesting thing in this youtube video is that it has some evidence, as the researcher claims, that the exodus happened and the red sea split into two in addition to evidence of egyptian army died at the location.. the documentary is 1 hour 24 minutes long.. .
apologies if this was posted previously but i ran a search and couldnt identify similar one.. as some of you know i am a born-in active jw with a mind of his own!.
I will check it out later when I get home from work. So far I have not found any of these type of documentaries very convincing. I have seen others films like this about this exodus as well as several that claim to have found the Ark of the Covenant, which is always kept hidden regardless of where it is being stored, and ones about finding pieces of Noah's ark.
But so far I have not seen anything yet that convinces me that 3 to 7 million people wandered about the deserts of the Middle East for decades. There would be plenty of evidence left in the dry heat of the desert if such an Exodus took place.
many jws believed in god.
now many here, do not believe in a deity.
how has this affected you in your life?.
Everyday life makes much more sense now that I don't have to find a way to make "God" fit into the picture. As a another unbeliever once said "Without God and Religion, you have good people doing good things and bad people doing bad things. But it takes a belief in God and Religion to make a good person do a bad thing."
did a seventh grader have a better grasp of her beliefs than the modern day governing body of jehovah's witnesses?.

I remember reading about the Gobitas kids in the book "The Bible vs the Flag." The non-JW author did a good job of showing how many believers of other faiths in the U.S. chasitised and persecuted the Witnesses for their appearance of not supporting the war effort in WW II.
While I no longer support the beliefs of the JW's, you have to give them credit for standing up to the courts during this difficult period. Many of teh verdicts they won benefited everyone, not just themselves.
the jw's are quick to tell you that when jehovah has finished kicking the ass of those who do not acknowledge the teachings of the watchtowers governing body in new york state, that those who survive will live forever in a restored paradise on earth.
the same goes for those who are resurrected during the 1000 year reign of jesus and survive satan being let loose "for a little while" at the end.. they are also quick to tell you that everything will be just as it was for adam and eve before the latter decided she needed a fruit fix and then got her hubby high on it as well.. and when you view the illustrations in their publications showing what they view this paradise to be, it shows a world of lush color.
the deep greens of all the trees and grass, the clean blue skies, puffy white clouds and tables covered in a plethora of fresh fruits and vegetables representing just about every major color.
One person sent me a message stating that with the Society having all of the pedo issues, they may start showing pictures of nude folks in paradise. Then they can say they were ahead of the game long before paradise became reality.

My local JW source, a co-worker, has no answer for this. In fact he said it was the first time he had ever heard the question. Then he added, "What makes you think of these things?"
I just replied "Inquiring minds want to know."

i guess there are many, but what would be the strangest teaching, or "wackiest" ?.
.
.
That 95 % of Gods word is about fear and punishement and then they say "God is Love."

The deep greens of all the trees and grass, the clean blue skies, puffy white clouds and tables covered in a plethora of fresh fruits and vegetables representing just about every major color. Then add the scenes of little children playing with lions, bears and other beasts that today are considered dangerous, and you have paradise.
But there is one thing they do not show that we "know" was a factor in pre-fallen Eden. Nudity. According to "Gods" word, the couple were naked in their perfection and did not consider clothing until they became aware of their nakedness after munching out on the forbidden fruit.
So logically (one of the Watchtowers favorite words), this would mean that once the survivors of Armageddon and their fellow resurrected ones achieved perfection after the millennial reign of Jesus, then the clothes should go. After all, wearing apparel is only needed because of sin.
However when you look at the Watchtowers publications of these scenes of the future paradise, not only are the people clothed, but they are clothed very conservatively. Some show men in suits and women wearing high heels.
Really? People in the new world will continue to dress up for meetings as they do today? Will those future paradise inhabitants be aware of the story of Adam and Eve? And if one asks "Why are we not naked as they were before the fall?," what will the "logical" answer be?
What is the Watchtowers explanation of the need of clothing in the perfect paradise earth? Maybe Ross and the Burling Coat Factory will survive and be viable in Gods new "system of things."
it's almost 1am and i can't sleep...again.
i hate to think the organization is still taking my sleep from me 16 years later but i can't help it.
i run a page on social media for ex jw support and advice and i'm usually there helping others but it definitely takes a toll on me when i'm having to argue and disprove jws that troll my page.
bsand20 it is interesting that you mention that your cousin cut you off 2 years ago even though you have been out 16. I left the organization in September 1992 while my children were still kids. My two daughters left the religion years ago but my son remained. 4 years ago he became an elder but he was still talking to me and coming to visit when I did my twice yearly trips back to Dallas to visit family.
Then in June of 2012 we hooked up as we usually do and this time he took me to his place of employment to show me what he did as a mechanical engineer. He introduced me to several of his fellow workers and to his management. I was surprised because he had never let me get this far into his personal life since he had became an adult.
Afterwards we went to lunch and everything seemed to be going well for the first 30 minutes or so. Then he excused himself to go to the restroom and when he came back he took a deep breath and then excused himself again. He did this one more time and it prompted me to ask what was wrong?
He paused for a moment and then said that he loved me and said I had been a good dad to him, but it was time for him to make a decision that was not easy for him. He said that unless I began attending meetings again with the intent on getting reinstated that he would not be able to associate with me. He then said that he was grateful that I had not been an "active" apostate since my departure 20 years prior and he hoped I would make the right call. You could tell he was on the verge of breaking down as he said these words and then he departed.
I sat there stunned by what I had just heard and I was very confused. Why did he take me to his workplace and introduce me to all of those folks only to say his goodbye just 2 hours later? After my shock subsided I questioned whether or not he would maintain his stance, but 2.5 years later I have not heard from him even by email or text. The only "updates" I hear about him is through my mom and dad who have never been J.W.'s.
I know of a few other who had left and still kept communication with family or friends and their cutoff also occurred in 2012, so was there some extra push or emphasis from the Society that year to avoid disfellowshipped and disassociated ones?
As a result of that meeting I decided no longer to be the quiet former JW and have been an "active" apostate ever since.
