The purpose driven life?
by MelbaToast inok, just wanting to vent here for a minute..... for all that don't know me very well, i have been dfd for about 8 years now and am just starting to figure out where i want to be as far as from a religious standpoint.. now, i have started to delve back into research to mitigate the bible and early protestant v. catholics.
its pretty interesting, but i havent really set foot in any different churches for a while.
once in a while, we go down the street to my hubbys church where he grew up.

The meds are the most important right now. my family had to take drastic measures with me. I actually had a policeman take me handcuffs and all to the Hospital. I am not recomending that by anymeans but that is how hard it can be. I sure hope it goes better. I really don't know how to help you or her. All I can say again is keep trying to get her to take her meds. Talk to her husband, maybe he can do something about it. I don't know how long she has been on the meds. It took a good month for mine to start working, and that was after I tried 3 or 4 different ones. The person really has to be convinced that he/she has a problem and needs help. It is really the only way to get her to take her meds or get her to try and find the right one. I wish you the best of luck.

Evolution of Man
by bavman inhere's a question for all you who have been studying evoluition much longer than me.
i have read in a few places that man has all but stopped evolving.
is this what is really being taught by science and why?

So I should look into a pro evolution book for answers on evolution? That is just as bad as learning about it from the jw's. Or is it not a pro evolution book?

Do you think the world will end soon. If so, when?
by Rod P inpredictions for the end of the world have been going on since the time of christ, and in every century since then.
during the past 100 years there have been more predictions for the end of the world than have been made in all the previous centuries combined.
many of these prophesied dates have since come and gone.. people look around and see the possibility of many different natural or man-made disasters by which the end could come.

I don't think it really matters when it is going to end. All we need is Faith that it will happen, it doesn't matter when. It is just like in school. At least for me it was. I have a test, I know when it is. I would usually wait for the night before to study for it and i wouldn't do as well as I could if I would have prepared longer. If I didn't know when a test was I would constantly be studying to always be ready. I had faith it was coming, I didn't know when. Trying to figure out when wouldn't really help me anyway so I just kept on studying. After a while I knew the material so well it didn't matter when it came because i was ready. So to with this question. If we are ready the time frame doesn't matter. It couldn't happen for thousands of years it could happen now, or .......now. Either way we have a responsibility to work at it the best we can ready at anytime but ALSO living our lives now. God didn't put us here to suffer all the time, he probably doesn't want us to suffer at all. Live your life. Go to college get a good job. Take vacations, save money for your retierment, save money for the kids college do things to make life now easier. God wants us to be happy, not worrying.about the end. We know from the Bible that God can raise our dead boddies up. Who cares if there is a nuclear war, or even if the Earth explodes. God will not forget us. I could type all day long but I will stop for now. Don't worry....be happy.

Evolution has never made sence to me. I have really thought about it. I can see adaptation in a lot of places but as far as evolution goes there is not enough proof. I think it all boils down to one thing. Does a person believe in God creating everything or not, which i do, then eveolution is not even needed. I am sure the Bible doesn't tell us every little detail of what went on. Why are there no wolly mamothes anymore. Why are there certain species only found in parts of the world. I could see the flood killing out many different animals. maybe where the mammothes were there were no humans so Noah didn't get any in the ark. A lot of the dino skeletons are found in the US and Europe, maybe there were none where Noah was or people for that matter so they didn't make it either. What about the Galapogos Islands. Creatures found there and no place else in the world. HOw did that happen. I don't think evolution played a part in any of these things. So many unanswered questions.

Should you keep a marriage together for the sake of the kids?
by Rod P intesting this thread.
tried three times already, but only get error message.. wow, this time it worked.
here goes.. there are a lot of people who feel very strongly that you should keep a marriage together at all costs for the sake of the kids, since they feel that children need both a mother and a father.

Speaking from personal experience having unmedicated bipolar and a Bible, get her on her meds. I was crazy until my doc and I found the right meds. Saying the same things she does. In the mean time tell her not to judge others. THat is Gods job not your, use the scripture that says that. Hopefully that will tone her down a bit until you can get the med thing taken care of.

June 6, 2006 Why be worried?
by robhic inon may 5, 2005 the thought occured to me: it's 05/05/05.
now, next year do you think jws -- and/or all fundamentalist groups, etc -- will be anticipating or freak out on june 6, 2006?
it'll be 06/06/06 or, more diabolically extrapolated (as they do so well...), 666!!!

Dad (elder) called yesterday.
by Es inhi all.... i have not spoken nor seen my dad for about 3months now after he would not allow me to borrow cds for my up and coming wedding to a "worldy guy" because borrowing his cds means he would be supporting my mariage.
even tho the relationship between my mum and i is now strained as a result she still keeps in contact and suggested that we all meet at the shops one day for lunch so dad could see my son.
i agreed as i felt it would be nice for my son to see his pop again...but also was a little upset as dad hasnt gone out of his way to see my son.

I will never undrestand what is wrong with birthdays. Why are wedding aniverseries ok. "shaking my head" I was in the JW's for 20 years and i still dont understand. The only thing I remember being told is that there was never a good birthday in the bible. We were not told to celebrate birthdays so we don't for those reasons. Anniverseries are ok 'cause God set up the first marriage. It is a perfect union by God himself. Were humans ever told to celebrate aniv. like we were told to celebrate Jesus death?
