well the JWs I tried to talk to about the UN or the allowed Child abuse or the inconsistancies in political nuetrality, it only served to alienate them from my life. So I guess it is a risk you have to consider while making your choice

Yes. I had a friend who was abused by her uncle who was also a witness. Turned out he molested several of the young females/children in the family
and no.. he was never brought to justice for it

cigarettes, alcohol and drugs
by rye inhi, but i'm wondering whether the use of cigarettes, alcohol and recreational drugs would be considered sinful under the jw faith.
i've heard conflicting things on this and would appreciate it if someone could clear this up for me... thanks.
i apologize if this has been discussed here before, i tried to use the search engine first but it appears to not be working at the moment.

Punishements are meant for any age, not just adults.
And yes, they do want people to report you. Part of their control on people is even your best friend will feel they must turn you in, to please God and "save you'

I've never been to Atlantic City or gotten to spend time on an east coast beach (yet).. one day..
I like nature myself. Grew up in the country and used to spend a lot of time outdoors. Life has been too busy lately for much time though..
I came down with some kind of bug yesterday that has gotten worse today.. so I won't be having much fun any where for a few days..
just work and probably go home to sleep

the reasons why we leave makes a difference...
by littletree ini have a dilemma (did i spell dilemma correctly?
): i am the only person i know, of any of my former witness associates, who left because i started doubting/stopped believing the teachings.
i did research on the internet, read books, talked to people from different religions, etc.

Actually I wanted to add after I read Joy's comment that when I personally left, I was just fed up with the WTS, so although I fully expected to die for leaving, I chose to quit. But I still believed. A friend of mine who was dfd (whom I had never stopped contact with personally) did lay subltle hints in our conversations.. very minor, but over time she got me to think. Eventually my eyes were really opened. But her cracking open the door to free thinking is a large reason who I finally 'saw'

I understand how you feel. There are many 'out' for reasons other than doubting. So many of them will still hold on to their beliefs and inside even think eventually they will go back. I have a friend who has been inactive for 25 yrs. She has always felt guilty for not going, but never got up the effort to get back there. Well when I finally realized it wasn't the 'truth' I tried to talk to her. I thought I would help rid her of the guilt. She wasn't going to meetings any way, so why not enjoy life w/o it. But I upset her. It is like she still wants that 'hope'.. So I have pretty much shut up. But when I go see her, I have been clear with her, I dont' want to go to meetings. (That was the one time she would go, when I would come to visit in the past)

I really blew it......I am the nightmare householder!
by Why Georgia ini really blew it yesterday.
we had just gotten home from a very long day and we were contemplating what to do for dinner and then a knock at the door.
the sister was back with an elder and he asked to speak to my husband...completely got his name wrong.
