just wondering because in our congregation i reckon for every 10 that have come in during the past ten years eight of those have gone out?
lots of these people have studied and converted without family so the don't have the sword of damocles of shunning hanging over them.
they also used their brains relatively recently so i think these are the main reasons they bounce back out.
I was 28'ish when I fell into the JW trap... stayed for 13 years. Do to a life changing event, I was able to take some time away from the congregation and began to think and see things for myself, for the first time in years.
Yes, it was easy to fit back into the world. Since I have "NO" family that are witnesses... I had nothing to leave behind.
It was a very Liberating Feeling.

when i see this kind of weather it makes me think of the absurd policy of the borg that the sisters must always dress in a skirt for field service.
can you imagine having snow blowing up your skirt at 40 mph????.
Here in Southern Indiana, we ended up with 10-12 inches. Our first good snow of the year. With the wind, we ended up with some amazing snow drifts and shapes... So Beautiful.
The public was told to stay home and off the roads. Only emergency food purchases were allowed at Wal-Mart, otherwise you were denied entrance. Never known them to do that.

No, I don't look down on them at all. They are stuck in the same "Mind Set" that I was in. If they see a problem, Jehovah will fix it in due time....
In my case it took a major life changing event, and time away from the congregation, away from the daily routine of hearing the same thing over and over, for reality to set in. I was then able to think and see clearly for the first time in years.
I honestly think that is what it takes for some to wake up.

hey it's been awhile since i've left--almost 5 years now!
i haven't visited this site for quite a while now.
i was never dfd, but i have little contact with anything to do with jws.
I've been out for 10 years now. The Elders have only been here once in approx. 9 years.
One drives a Fed-X truck and delivers pkgs. here now and then. He is friendly, business wise... So, they know I still live here. I have no idea of my status in the congregation, and at this point.... I would love for them to come and say...
"We've missed you"... yeah, right.

i've learned so much from you all, through the ups and downs of what any community experiences !
we all have something special to bring to jwd , and i want to thank each and every one of you for bringing what you do in an authentic way !

i should re-word it, because they seem to 'own' us.. i have 3 birds: 1 female cockatiel (a rescued footless darling) called, nimh; 2 female budgies (1 rescued) named, baby and blue.
2 years ago you may remember i had a budgie named: busy.
