the driver was knocking herself out trying to find some "decent" music on the radio.
finally gave up and put a john mellencamp tape in.

I can see that happening, it's a shame how hard they tried to keep us from just being ourselves, pounding us down until we didn't have any personality left at all... (tried to anyway...lol).

as many know i left tennessee to help take care of my grandma.
she is back in the hospital, this is visit number 8 this winter alone.
the doctor's don't know what it causing her headaches and they are getting worse.

ok...so this is my first time posting here...long time lurker first time poster...a bit bout my situation...i havent been to a meeting in a long time...the last was my meeting to announce my disfellowshipping...i have recently gotten an invitation to the memorial...*gasp* well it is about that time of year again...i had been fortunate enuff to be vacant when it came to previous memorials and meetings in general, but due to a sudden unforseen familial situation i was located (found) and invited to the memorial....i have accepted the invitation and my significant other (who has no jw past) will be coming with me...she knows that this part of my life was brutal and that i have tried to leave it behind me as much as is humanly possible...she is a big reason i have been able to move past a lot of my "issues" with religion, family etc etc blah blah blah...i have gotten past a lot of those issues.... my question i think is...am i making a mistake in going?
i have no belief in their drivel and no desire to go back to that "dogs vomit" but due to my semi-newfound appreciation for life and life after jw'ness i am trying to patch stuff up with my jw family...least as much as i can...if such a thing is even possible...my jw family is actually treating me with some degree of human kindness and i feel as though i should at least try to rebuild some semblance of "family" i dunno....but i am going to the memorial....i must be nucking futz...anyhow...thoughts?

I understand this is a tough decision... only you know if you are strong enough to go thru with it and deal with the conseqences
afterwards. I'm glad you have a good relationship with someone to help you cope. I hope it goes well for you, either way.

have this love hate relationship going on with the parents. They were my friends. I let them in to my little world. I still feel sympathetic towards them; and yet, it's like you said, Pickled, I want to "egg their house".
Have no idea how they treated you after leaving the witnesses, but if it was bad....maybe you feel like "Finally" justice has been served.
On the other hand, maybe you feel guilty for thinking that.......... just grabbing at straws here

as many of you are aware i have accepted i am an alcoholic for a couple of years, whilst cutting down loads over this period of time i recently have decided to attend aa, which has been a real help.. i have just looked through some old topics i posted, dating back to 2001, (which was a real dark period in my life).
what i have realised is how i have changed, call it growing up, whatever you like.
i find it interesting to see my opinions on matters and what i was going through at the time.. i would recommend anyone to have a browse through their old posts and see if it is the same for yourselves.. paul.

As for looking back at old post, I started here around 2001...... I have went back and read some of mine & thought..."WHO in the world was that person !" It was embarrassing...lol. I sounded like a person on speed back then, must have been the joys of freedom.

I always thought that if people could be stumbled it was their weakness in faith and that wasn't my problem it was theirs.
LouBelle... I always felt that also, why was it considered "MY" fault if others had such weak faith. Shouldn't the Elders be talking to them..? I mean, I can see to a point, if I, or any of us, were doing something totally off the wall, but come on..."Loud Laughter...?" Picky, Picky..!!

when we got married we were so happy.
we were healthy and energetic.
every year we would have a big party at our home for our anniversary and invite family and friends.
I am so sorry your wife is sick, I know this must be a stressful time for you both. I have been widowed twice, I have learned to not look pass tomorrow too much, and just be glad I have today.......with the one I love.
I whole heartedly wish you both the best, sounds like you have a "Wonderful" relationship. Treasure your moments together.
