i wanted to write this thread after reading pec's profile...wow!!!.
he was raised in a family were the men were cursed....if you had a penis you were in trouble.. that was true in my family too, my mother was sexually abused as a child...she hated men all men...so me and my father had no hope...being males.. in my exwife families the men were the chosen ones..the women were worthless.. what sex was favored in your family?

Most definitely the Men... My Mom waits on my Dad hand and foot. He can do no wrong as far as she is concerned.
When my Brother was born, you would have thought "God" himself landed in our house... My Sister and I were just sort of on the fringes.

i am curious about who (after leaving) went on to other religions vs. lost faith completely.
once i started questioning the wt society, i began to question everything.
as jw's we are taught from childhood up that other religions are false - so it seems easy, after elliminating the last one, to be rid of religion altogether.. .

what do you think about jw spanking their kids at the kingdom hall?
While I agree that smacking a child ANYWHERE could possibly be the wrong decision...When it happens at the hall it's usually out of embarrassment, and peer pressure
I agree with the above. I am guilty of spanking, because the PO would turn and look at me and motion his head towards the bathroom. I would take my baby there and I felt like he was listening for the swat and cry.........DAMN...... can't believe I was ever so stupid to bow down to such....

when i was in my teens, jw weddings were quite the social affair.
of course, the music was strictly regulated by the elders.
somehow though, in each wedding, someone managed to get the song "you shook me all night long" by ac/dc into the dj's rotation, and all of the "bad" witnesses would have a blast dancing to it.
Music was always heavily suppressed at our weddings, thanks to an uptight PO.
We were allowed some bluegrass, and dancing only consisted of "Square Dancing"... did I mention it's a very hick town....
Sounds like some of you were allowed to actually have a "Good Time"...

it is truly amazing the varied emotions i've felt since my jw daughter has been talking to me after not talking to me for 9 months .
" i replied, " i haven't said anything about the witnesses today .
she had told me an elder from my area had given a talk in her congregation 30 miles away , and she told him i have issues with the child abuse scandal.

I am so glad you two were able to get together and talk. Just being able to tell each other that you love each other face to face is worth a lot.
