My parents were not religious
Neither were mine, that's why it took me so long to figure it out... then along came the witnesses and I thought I had all the answers,
Silly me...

just wondered how others first learned about religion.
i know "born ins" were taught from the start but the rest of us had to start somewhere.
my very first memory of anything supposedly religious was at the age of six... my grandmother took me to a "tent revival".

im sure all of us at one time or another witnessed homes that broke our heartshere are a few of mine.
some of the homes i had been invited into out in service really left an impression on me.
call it naive or whatever, it was a real eye opener in some cases.. one in particular that i remember was a poor family with 8 little girls, stair step in age, the oldest no more than 9. this was an rv of the sister i was with.... very nice people, but the living conditions were appalling.
Goodness, those are some very moving experiences....that we've all shared.
I never could bring myself to ask for money (at the time) and later a donation from these people...I just gave them the literature. They needed the money a lot more than the WTS. I guess in reality they didn't have it to give anyway.

i am new to this forum but the reason i joined is because im fed up.
the death of one of my wifes friends was the last straw.
she was a faithful sister who was loyal to her husband children and friends and they found her dead in her car about a month ago.
Welcome 2tired2care...
I am so sorry for the loss of your friend, it's a total shame that "Religion" that is suppose to make a person feel hopeful and refreshed is used to beat a person down to the point of suicide. My heart goes out to you.
Sincerely,
Cas
moshe is walking down the street, and he sees a friend coming toward him & the friend is crying his eyes out.
moshe: davey, whats wrong?
davey: well, you know moshe, i tried to be a good father, i raised my boy jewish, sent him out into the world, and he came back a christian.
Lol... very funny...

Welcome Summer Wine....
I was shown a big stain in the middle of the floor which was apparently blood, caused by the daughter stabbing her boyfriend a week before, it had never been cleaned up!
Words just escape me on the thought of that......

Some of the Dubs homes were atrocious. I wouldn't go to some of their homes because I felt like I was going to catch some unspeakable disease.
Alex.........So true....

Velvetann,
Most of them were all related to each other in that they married their 1st cousins and in a couple of cases there was a Father living with his daughter and they had kids together. I was not that old and I just couldn't understand how they could live in this filth but the worst was they were all incestuous.
Those are truly sad experiences.... Thanks for sharing.

When we would sit down on the couch, I would tuck my pants legs into my socks so they couldn't run up and inside my pants.
Uniformed...
Just amazing what some people will put up with.
That reminds me of a time when our car group stopped by a very "Prominent" and I mean "Prominent" Pioneer Sister's home to use the bathroom... She had left her dirty dishes in the sink to soak overnight. There was a mouse floating in the water, she just picked it up by the tail and tossed it out the door. She then proceeded to make us coffee, when she handed me the creamer it had mouse droppings in it... I just said... "Uh, no thanks...

Mouthy,
You never cease to amaze me... I really don't think the sisters in my old hall would have gone so far to help, and that is a shame. There is a good feeling in helping others when we can... (((((Hugs))))

Quirky1
the saddest part is that most of the people in these situations choose this lifestyle and think nothing of it.
I've noticed this on occasion.....they seem perfectly happy with the way things are.
