Just an introduction
by ataloa ini have been a lurker for a few months.
my story is not uncommon, just the usual "skinned and thrown about like sheep without a shepherd".
the many different viewpoints have helped me sort things out in my own mind and gone a long way toward the healing of my heart.. just wanted to introduce myself and express my appreciation for this site.. ataloa.

Do you believe God is guiding you throughout life?
by JH ini believe in god, but i don't think he is guiding me or making life easier for me.. some see god in every aspect of their lives, and if there is hardship in life, god is behind this so that you can get stronger through this bad experience.. and when things go well, it's god's hand at work..

i think that's going pretty far in the direction of ridiculous ostentation.

The Occult
by mahler inin the hall i used to attend i found alot of people had 'demon' stories, did you know anyone like this or have any run-ins yourself?
i personally think they were zealot delusions.
nevermind i just did a search a found a whole bunch of stories.

Welcome Mahler....
Look forward to hearing more about your own experiences.
I personally don't have any demon stories, knew several people from my old hall that claimed to, tho.

what would you put in room 101
by helenhall inthings are pretty heavy in my life right now, so thought i would post something just for fun.
on the tv programme you are allowed to put 3 things into room 101 that you hate and would like to see the back off, forever, so what 3 things would be top of your list.
mine.

1. People that pull out in front of me when I'm in a hurry, and then go "2" miles an hour.
2. Frozen food that "NEVER" looks like the picture on the box. (when will I learn)
3. Movies or books that don't wrap up all the loose ends, just so they can make a sequel.
Helen you wouldn't like it around my house, I adore wind chimes... I have them inside and out...

Hi Hortensia,
I seen a stretch hummer on the super highway the other day.... I had to ask hubby...what in the world it was... Ugly, if you ask me...
I live in such a small town... we don't have anything remotely ostentatious...

Proof that WT literature is not needed...
by The Last Nephilim ini have recently come to fully appreciate what is stated at 2timothy 3:16, 17 (nwt).
it clearly declares that nothing is needed outside of the bible in order for a person be be "fully competent" and "completely equipped" for "every good work".
how can anyone, especially the wts, claim that the bible alone is not enough after reading these scriptures?

That's a good point ... it makes so sense to claim that more is needed.

A Compassionate Heart.....Do You Still Have One?
by nomoreguilt ini've just spent a few days considering the posts of sooo many new ones here.
at times i feel overwhelmed by the negative impact that the wtbts has had on many.
the horror stories of families lost, loved ones scorned, youth lost, extreme sexual abuse, my god!!!!

As a JW (or any fundamentalist) we had to wear these giant filters -- blinders, that kept us from seeing or caring about the true complex human condition.
I too feel that I've always been a compassionate person, before becoming a witness and during. That's what made it so hard for me to accept the shunning practices.
I had experienced some of the hardships the world was enduring... and had a really hard time "filtering" it out and pretending it didn't matter.
So glad I never have to feel pressured into condemning people anymore, just because they live and believe differently than I do.

WHAT if we're wrong?
by shell69 ini mean, i know i'm bitter.. normally these days quite strong, not feeling so much so much the last few days though.. what i'd give to do the things i was used to.
going doing the weekly shop with my mum, her popping round for a brew in the morning.. a hug from her, just to to know from the way she communicated with me, that she loved me.
i miss her so much.. and what if i'm wrong?.

Shell....... (((Hugs)))
I too felt the same way... and still today after 10 years it hits me now and then. But, while I was in, my heart just wasn't in it, so what was the point ?
I was doomed if I stayed and doomed if I left... So, I chose "Freedom".
My adult daughters have told me since leaving, that they only stayed for me. So that helps.
I hope at some point you find peace.
Sincerely,
Cas
