to elaborate...we are all at and have been at varying stages of the healing/recovery process...what stages have you experienced...how did you deal with it and what are your plans for the future now you are on this path.. db74
Well, I'm not sure if you'd call them stages of recovery or healing but to begin with, up until I found this site, I still believed it to be the truth and probably thought that I'd go back to it one day, once I found JWD I started to feel guilty, even a little afraid as I wasn't sure what to expect from apostates, I did some research and read a lot and then I started to reflect on my life, my relationships with family members, all that stuff and got quite down, feeling that I was a bad person, I came through that though and now I'm starting to loose interest, it doesn't seem so important anymore.
ah, where to start.
i have been married for 30 years and was a jw with my husband for 20+.
we raised 6 children in the borg; none of which, thankfully, stuck with it.
Welcome to the board, you are in a very tricky situation and I wish I could offer you some advice but I don't know what to say.
i own five tarot card decks, and use them often.
not so often that i live my life by them, but enough.
one deck is one i use more then others, as i feel more of a connection with the cards.
This thread has got me thinking, I've always been afraid of this kind of stuff but I'm curious at the same time and I believe the best way to conquer a fear is to confront it, also I'm at quite an exciting time in my life and would like to know what the future holds so I'm off to book a tarot reading tomorrow.
if you've ever been away on vacation, have you noticed a jw is in your midst?
what stands out to you in knowing that a certain person "must" be a jw?
They may aswell have flashing lights on their heads they are that easy to spot.
The suits, the knee length or longer skirts, the literature on display in their cars, they stand out a mile away.
that's sumthi_k ive alway's wa__ted to _o..............why you left
I couldn't stand to be around hypocrites anymore.
dear friends,.
i'm sorry for barging in like this, but i really need some advice.
i am not jw, but my boyfriend is.
I've just added you to my MSN

They only wear the badges if they go to assemblies where a lot of people from different congregations will be.
The congregation just goes by the name of the town or area.

No, you are right, its not just the meetings they are expected to take part in, even though they are very time consuming, there is field service (door knocking) too, plus all the assemblies.
The thing is, if he is a witness and you do stay together, you will barely spend time together as ontop of the meetings he will probably feel obliged to do pre-study and probably be encouraged to spend time socially with other witnesses.
It really is a very time consuming religion.
Oh yes, I remember one time, I was having a study with an old bat, she was very posessive of me, I think I was her new thing to show off, I started spending time with another older sister, it was great for me getting spoilt by these old women, anyway, one day I arrived at the hall and the sister I was studying with hadn't yet arrived so I went to sit with the other sister, anyway, at the end of the meeting the old bat comes over and they actually started argueing, right there in the middle of the KH, shouting at each other and the lot, highly amuseing!
