Reputations
by Honesty indo the jw's in your community have an overall good reputation?.
are they generally known for helping their neighbors in times of need?.
are they known as people who contribute and give back to the local community?.
-
Ellie
I don't know to be honest, but whenever I mention to anyone that my family are witnesses, after they have gathered that I'm not, they usually mention the blood issue or just sort of smirk as if to say "Nutters".
They do a lot of ministry round here too, the territory is quite big but they seem to be in my street about once a month, but I just don't think people care that much.
However, a few of my friends know my family from school and their opinions are non too high.

Yeah, I always wonder that too, why they put so much time into preaching to strangers, when there are people they know who would probably go back with a little shove in the right direction.
It makes no sense.

by ballistic in.
i'm sure i can find some biblical reference about fluff.... what about.... "man cannot live on bread alone, everyone needs fluff once in a while" - pharasees 1:3.

A quick glance through your post history would provide sufficient evidence to my statement, not a bad thing at all, I always enjoy your fluffy threads. Oh, does that sound rude??

are British people boring?
by Ellie in.
i've just read a news article that stated that in a recent international survey, britain was voted the best country in the world, but the british people the most boring.. i do wonder what people think of us brits, they seem to have some wild idea that we all drink tea and play cricket, they seem quite unaware of the loutish behaviour that many of us are embaressed about.. what do you think?

I've just read this on another forum and thought it was quite good. One of the British national daily newspapers is asking readers "what it means to be British?" Some of the emails are hilarious but this is one from a chap in Switzerland. "Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV. And the most British thing of all? "Suspicion of anything foreign."

Ellie
Oh yeah, the car is always so embaressing, my mum would pick me up from school with watchtowers all over the back shelf, nicely displayed for all the kids to laugh at.

You had best show your wife this site before she gets too involved and is brainwashed into believing the internet is bad.
Welcome to the forum.

TV series&movies-CURSING!!!
by BlessedStar inhow do you feel about tv shows & movies at present?.
do you think it is appropriate for children to be viewing comedies with cursing and sexual encounters?.
don't you think movies have more cursing even though they are rated "g"?.
-
Ellie
We have a programme in Britain called Footballers Wives, and omg, don't ever watch that with your granny in the room.
But I've never noticed anything inappropriate in children's TV.
