  Would you support a 'tent' city in your town?

  i read this comment in the sacramento news and wondered how many would support a 'tent' city for the homeless in their town?

  i personally don't know how it works other than that i imagine it cloisters those homeless who wish to take of advantage of it into one large area, and provide them with toilets and tents and perhaps some form of help in the way of volunteers offering food or medical assistance.

  once legal and set up, what would happen?

  People who leave dishes in sinks when the sink is empty. ITS ONLY ONE F$#@ing DISH, WASH IT!!

  Also, when people see that i'm doing dishes, and they start adding more dishes WHILE i'm washing it.

  Most of my pet peeves involve dishes...

  What's The Worst Way You've Been "Ripped Off"?

  identity theft is so prevelant now.

  i would think that would have to be the worst scam you could get yourself involved in.

  I hate saying this because it happened to recently but here goes.

  I was moving out for the first time and i found a sublet. The guy was there with his girlfriend and seemed nice enough, we agreed on a rent and a deposit and I requested his lease ( to see if he was authorized to sublet his place) and my lease. Everything looked in order and the lease terms were agreed upon. I signed it off, got my copy, put in a deposit and he left. Not even a DAY into living there, someone shows up and lol & behold its the 'real' owner, who is pissed that someone is renting out his place without his knowledge. The person who i signed the lease to and gave the money to was a former tenant who couldn't afford rent, but wanted his money back, so cheated me off to get his deposit. Later on, i checked my state's judiciary system and learned that the person wasn't even born in the US and he had several court cases against him, ranging from child support suits to car payment collections. I never heard from him again, and of course i never got back my deposit. Luckily I had been saving for a few months and was able to move in to another place for cheaper.

  Losing that deposit sucked, but in the way it life-changing in a good way. My new roommates are awesome and well connected so i've benefited from their contacts and i'm alot more conscious about where my money is going.

  Was there any particular song or music u were not allowed to listen to because it was inappropriate or it was deemed demonized?

  i remember there was this heavy metal group called wasp.

  some of the witnesses said it stood for we are satans people and that wasnt even true.

  stairway to heaven by led zeppelin was a no-no because they said if u played it backwards it talked about worshipping the devil.

  The exact opposite happened to people in my area.

  The 'territory' we were in was predominantly black and urban. So Heavy & Death Metal weren't problems, cause no one was listening to that. We were just being constantly reminded not to listen to any hip hop (which was stupid because there is some REALLY good hip hop out there) and some R&B.

  I didnt even 'discover' music until i was 14 (we had just gotten cable, and MTV was still actually playing music). It's kind of funny because i think i speak the way i do because Hip Hop / Urban culture wasn't tolerated in the congregations i was in. So even though i went to school with people who spoke in ebonics and what not, i always used 'standard english' and was made fun of cause of it.

  I don't listen to the crappy, misogynistic and nihilistic Hip hop that they're putting out now, but some artists i do listen to are Common, Kanye, Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def and Wu Tang.

  First, meet up with her at her place. I'm keeping the valentines day presents simple, Giant Card, Chocolates and bear.

  Then, O'donnells - Seafood restaurant around my way: O'donnells Menu: No prices on the menu so I know i'm screwed. I'm going to check it out this weekend by myself.

  Then, Confessions of a shopaholic - Chick Flick that i'll have to Endure for 120 minutes.

  Finally, my place :-D.

  How to fade quickly and get off the JW "radar screen"

  so you want to fade quickly, and keep the elders off your back?

  here's an easy way to do it:.

  1) recruit a sympathetic friend - doesn't have to be an elder, heck, doesn't even have to be a jw - to pose as the secretary for the "xyz" congregation.. 2) tell your congregation secretary you are moving to the "xyz" congregation.

  I've heard stories about people trying to get their publisher cards when they left the borg. Not sure if anyone was successful though.

  Lol, thats hardcore, most of the time i make sure that i'm only printing in javascript and do all the backend code in c#. so i feel your pain.

  I just recently snagged a java project, so i wont be doing any of that again for a few months (hopefully).

  The one that comes to mind for me is an elder that swindled an older witness sister into giving him alot more money for repairs around the house than what it actually was worth. Of course, he lost his positon as an elder, last i heard he moved to another congregation and is now a ministerial servant.

  X-Witnesses and Faders - have you had a help them return visit yet?

  with the watchtower study about helping 'lost sheep' return, i have been half expecting a visit.

  i have mentally rehearsed how i should handle the situation, which is fairly tricky as i still have family in.

  but no call yet.

  i still have the same number, but i haven't had a phone call from a J-dub since '06 and its likely going to stay that way :-D.
