JW hypocrisy

i am trying to build a list of hipocrisy with in the borg.

i dont mean things like the un scandal as people in the hall wont have heard of that, but smaller stuff that goes on all the time with out the rank and file noticing.

I have to disagree, but then if I was waering them, I would disagree also, so that does not say much....

Infant baptism? ; ; ; I was baptized at 8 years old. My friends in the congregation were baptized from age 10-12. ; A child of that age, whatever the level of understanding, is not mature enough to make a decision of that nature that will effect the rest of their lives. How old was Jesus when he was baptized? Ummmmmm.....30!

8* years, that is so young. The youngest I have ever seen here was a girl of 11. But she really made up her mind about it and was mature, so the elders did hestitate and adviced her to wait, she did not want to but allowed her wishes. I was baptized whrn I wa 17.
I agree that 8 is much to young.

Contributions? ; Be honest, Danny....they spend a lot of time talking about money....how to leave your estate to the organization... etc/ ; ; As far as the contribution box that is in the back of every Kingdom Hall... it is just as visible...people see you put money in... My ex would always put a check in (instead of cash) so he could take the tax deduction. ;

well, every month we had the talk about the financial status, and once in a while the different forms of contributions were mentioned. Like every month about I guess. This was mostly a part of 10 to 15 minutes on the midweek meeting. (And some 'hint's at convetions etc).
I have to say there is not that much pressure of donating.
but of course they do like money and 'need' it, and ask for it.

(Not to hijack the thread...but in the thread about Watchtower control, I added quotes about not marrying or having children...didn't know if you saw them, since you wanted to see some references)

yes I saw it and thank you for it. I wanted to use them, as I am compiling some information.

I meet a lot od JW in my life, also I travel, so I meet a lot of good people and they are NOT JW !

I never said that non JW people are not good. There are a lot of good non JW people. There are also a lot of good JW people.

So, please, we are not in GH now, I know the Truth about the truth !

I do know the truth also, but what I do not know is what GH means....

I feel same way. There is plenty of people better than JW. Loving, kind, following Jesus, intelligent.

I think that most JW people are real nice good persons. So I think you can not say better then JW as people, because how would you compare. And also people not following Jesus can be good....

There are some very Hypocrite JW's. The most aren't.

Infant Baptism

It's wrong to baptize a child, but a 9 year old witness is ok.

Well, this are really exceptions. Elders are informed that the person must be able to make a dessicion for themselves. Mostly youths are baptised around 15 or so. Sometimes later.

Asking for donations

It's wrong to pass a donation plate, but ok to spend half the meeting asking for more donations.

The reason for not passing a donation plate is that everybody sees who put how much money.
So, they do not say it is wrong to ask for some donations. Don't see any hyprocrism here.
And money is mentioned sometimes but really not that much. Never half of the meeting.

Superstitions

Superstitions are wrong, but if Witnesses have a run of bad luck they will burn any second hand goods.

Sorry, never hear such a thing. Must be some local freeky metally ill witness proposing something like that.

when i read some post on this board, they give me the feeling thet the gb are some crooked pure evil demons.

i do not believe this, for the following reasons:.

first of all i think that the issues that come out are actually few, if you compare it to the number of things printed, done etc.. like the un thing.

Sure the cover up stinks.....but why did they feel that they had to cover it up?..
come on.......they lay with the beast.

Well probably they did not realize what they are doing, just a mistake. They can not tell "Hallo everyone, we slept with the beast". Then more people would elave. They think it is in our interest not to tell.

some points of view suggest that at some point all the barriers that prohibit movement between the physical world and the spritual will be removed and that glorified bodies will allow us to materialize and dematerialize at will and to transfer as it were between the various dimensions that exist in our universe and beyond, and in this sense "god brings together all things in christ, both things on the earth and things in the heavens" and also in this sense new jerusalem comes down from heaven and god himself resides with them".. and so in this way also will those who dwell in the heavens enjoy access to the physical world in order to enjoy the whole of creation including the animal world.. .

also think that another significant part of their problem is that, at least until recently, they thoroughly and sincerely believed their own hype. They honestly thought Armageddon was going to come "just a few years from now". So, there were no long term plans, no infrastructure, no heritage to pass on to future generations. Why plan for the future of the organization, if you honestly believe Armageddon is coming "very soon now"? Why take care of your current youth, or encourage them to think long-term, if you believe none of them will ever "grow old in this system of things"?

I think that is exactly the problem. I think they still think that they are right, that armageddon will come soon.

Now, 11 years beyond the abandonment of the "1914 generation", and 13 after the death of their last spiritual "oracle", they are a quasi-religion / publishing house run by committee, afraid to make any signifcant change, and utterly incapable of planning for the future. To do so would be to admit they were wrong, something that has never happened in 125+ years.

Well, they admitted some things. If it is long enough ago, and the isssue isn't very important any more etc.
The do not admit because they do not want to make anyone stumble. The same that elders or publishers get as reason when doing some things. They apply that to themselves too. (and they think doing a good deed with it).

Some probably have seconds thoughts or doubts, but to admit that to the other members of the GB....

I agree with your sentiment that individual members may not be crooked or "bad". I just finished reading Ray Franz COC, and he also said some similar things in their individual defence......

yes reading COC I got that feeling too.

HOWEVER..............
As a group that is supposed to be Gods channel, or intermediary I think that they do not have the human characteristic of being allowed to make mistakes.

Well, yeah. But then again there lies the whole problem of the situation. They are of course not Gods channel, and telling too much about their mistakes would simple mean that they would acknowledge that. So they have to cover up.

Not really. First of all, it is not a big thing. They just try to make use of everything possible. They make use of legal things, use of the big business world also condemned. The whole issue is the cover up, but then they have to.

They misled, covered up, caused countless distress to many people, and they cannot and should not be trusted again.........

yes the should not be trusted.Nobody who puts themself in the place of God should be trusted.
I really think that they think to have the best intessest for their members
