having been fairly proud of my jw parent's behaviour (and to be honest, my handling of them) in the 13 years or so since i walked away i now find myself in a quandry.
i basically arranged my departure from the cult in such a manner that i would neither be da'd or df'd, to avoid a situation where their family loyalty might be streached by their adherence to organsiational law.
why should i play by their rules and write a letter leaving an imaginary religion?

for what it is worth, I do not think they will DF you. Most of the time, in those cases the question is if the person involved is still being considered a witness by other witnesses and or friends.
I do not think that counts for you.
They could have DF-ed you probably already if they had wanted. living together, is worse for them then marrying catholic.
Anyway as long as you don't piss them off, you're probably safe....

I do agree that they are flimsy grounds, but it is not really the fact, but they way they haddle it, IMHO.
And not everybody is/was a witness here. Some come out for very different reasons.

whenever there is bad news around the world, the jw's turn this into good news for them, because they see it as a sign of the end, so they are encouraged.... if less people join their religion, they will say that the end is close because everyone must have made up their mind, so they become encouraged.. so, what can discourage the jw's?.

I do not think they are more violentlt then most christo-judean religions.
They just still live in another time.
i sometimes imagine that the wt is destroyed (mental masturbation yeah) and all the people left without hope, sanity and joy.
this will be terrible in itself, if the wt falls suddently i fear a mass suicide.i recall myself thinking that id would rather die that not be in "the truth".
it will be a terrible shock for everybody.
Danny - With regards to their being 'not much growth in England', I'm sure that is true. However, my own experience from the few congregations that I know of is that they have a decline of a minimum of say 10% in publishers and some even more. Now, how come the UK isn't showing decline in its figures even if you do work out averages.I believe we're in for a shock in a few years when someone posts on here from Bethel, and tells us how they used to doctor the figures for publishers as the decline began in earnest, probably a couple of years ago.
Did not have GB (great brittan) some year of negative growth? (I'm not sure, and too lazy to look it up)
Anyway, people move, new congregations are added. Lot of forigners come to england. Some of them are already JW, from africa or caribean.
I had the priveledge of counting people on district assembies, and know at least that those figures are about right. (Not as accurate, as they like to tell), but in the right order of magnitude.
When you see the attendance of all congregations, you can see that the number of pubs, must be well at least in the right order. Can not be more then 5% div, to the number they give.

a lot of people are worrying about these uprisings, riots and violence being done----it seems everywhere.
i've read how some feel that europe does not have the ability as a union to fight against this.

They have got no new interpretations, and maybe, there will be no new interpretations, because they exhausted. No "new light". The incredible sarcasm is just the fact they have got no blind idea exactly at that point of time, when the rank & file in deep despair screams for new light... They fell into their own trap. They have used up all their ammunition, because they interpreted 99,999999% of the bible, instead of - say - 95%. (If they had done so, they now had free zone for "new light" regarding 5% of biblic prophecy). And now there is no new ammunition to firework a "new light".
Well, they can always do for a second third furfillment of a prophesy
Last I spoke to a JW who claimed the GB knows very well who is the new king of the south, but they can not tell, because we are not ready for it yet.

you have to hold some wire or somethnig (I forget some of the details of that party) one with each hand. I guess they measure the current ressistance of both hands and compose a picture of this.
So, I made sure that one hand was cold, the other was warm. I had the most screwed picture they had ever seen. They had a hard time explaining it
