  jw's on welfare?

  are there many jw's on welfare or some state assisted programs?

  how do they reconcile this with being 'no part of this world' and their abhorrence of government?

  There are some here, and it is not a shame, IMHO.

  but it is not allowed to pioneer and have a welfare allowance together.

  hi all hope you can help .

  my hubby is studying for a science degree and tonight my dad was talking to him about carbon dating and questioning the reliability of it.

  hubby asked me why dad would be interested and i remembered seeing on here some discussions about jws discrediting carbon dating as it underminded a lot of their teachings.

  for me, i think it's their hypocrisy.

  they lead (the vast majority) a double life.

  and ultimately they look down on anyone not a jw yet they won't even wn up to it.

  Saturday morning books study & Field Service combined

  i noticed recently that the book study i used to attend, used to be on a tuesdays or thursdays, but now it's on a saturday morning.. i notice that there are quite a few book studies on saturdays now.

  i think that 2 out of the 4 books studies in my congregation are on saturdays.

  is this a new way to get people to go out in the field service on saturdays?

  we have some saturday morning studies.

  before ending the study there is already the field service arrangement. So, a lot of presure not to go. you have to say explicetly that you do not want to go this week....

  it is done, because of brothers and sisters living far, or have to work many evenings.

  UFO's If they Are Life From Other Planets Most Likely Benign

  i think that if creatures on other planets evolve enought to design space ships, that can move out of thier solar system for the most part are benign.

  it don't take to long to see that as we evolve with selfish traits, like us humans we can destroy all life on this planet, because we arn't that concerned about other animals or plants.

  and so it seems to me that if a species on any planet were to evolve and get to the point of being able to travel to other solar system and not in the process destroy themselves and the ecosystem which they live that there is a very good chance that they are benign.

  I can't really follow your reasoning. Maybe there are aliens that are conquering some other galaxy and kill everything they find, who knows?

  ........................at my last meeting, the elder was talking about 1975 and said "it never happened, it is appostates using a time when (some) brothers took the info in the wt wrong"...................i just blinked and finally woke up.. i had been on this site lurking for a couple of weeks, and realized thing werent right, but to have some creep say on the platform " it didnt happen"............when this ruined my and my siblings childhood, just made me snap.

  on the way home, i told my hubby "that was the last meeting im going to"................boy was he pleased.. .

  so if you didnt get df ......................what happened at your last meeting.?.

  Question About Eyeglasses

  my wife just spent $900 on 4 pair of eyeglasses.

  is it just me, or is that waaaaaay too much money?

  i don't wear glasses anymore (laser surgery), but isn't this too much?

  For four pairs that does not sound excessive expensive.

  it depends a bit on how special the glasses are.

  We pay something between 150 and 500 $ per pair here. But I guess in Texas everything is a bit cheaper.

  when you post on someone's topic, do you expect an acknowledgement from the person who started it?

  if you don't get an acknowledgment, would you stop posting on any other other topics by the person?

  i personally don't expect an acknowledgement from anyone.

  some threads get many replies, and many are just short or just some bit of information.

  I would not expect to get a reply on that.

  however if there is a discussion going on, or with longer answers, differences of opinion etc, I think it is good etiquette to give a reply to an answer.
  Specially when questions are added in the reply etc.
