It took them 3 years to pay my friend a visit. And he had left under "morally suspicious" circumstances
Well I am not waiting for it or missing it. Just wondering why I have not heard a single phone call for even one brother of suister since not going to the meeting.
Not even from persons who claim to be friends...
Was quite well known in the cong. Had a position there. But more so in another one before it.

50. It is important that translators keep their work confidential . Apart from the responsible brothers and those involved in the project, others (including marriage mates and other Bethelites) do ot need to know (a) what is being translated and (b) who is translating a particular item. No publication should ever be associated with a particular person. This is especially so in the case of Bible translators. This confidentiality protects both the organization and translators .
This is quite funny. When I was at bethel recently a girl showed me exactly what she translated, what the problems were with the language. What all other translaters said about certain things. Names and braches were shown to me, they have a question database.
nothing at all that it was convidentional. or she just did not care...

jehovah's witnesses talk a big game but in reality they are filled with hot air.
they say a lot of things but don't always back it up.
for example, jws are told that meeting attendance is of paramount importance but the truth is anytime a meeting might be called off due to inclement weather, jws would anxiously wait by the phone from their elders saying the meetings were being canceled.. jws tell everyone that their preaching work is a "life-saving" work but the truth is they don't utilize the most effective modern ways of getting this "life-saving" message out.
an elder at my congregation refused a talk about pioneering because he did not pioneer himself and said he could not go out there and encourage others to to it, what he did not himself.
He got a reprimant by other elder who did not pioneer, was in good health and did not work, because he refused to do it. The otehr elder basically said, just fake that you like pioneering....
i was almost 50 years old before i really knew anything factual about how the bible came into existence!.
it is astounding.. i was reading it since i was a child never with a doubt in my head.
i was told by people i trusted (who had no reason to lie) that i could be confident the bible was the word of god almighty.. and, it was as simple as that!.

My story is about the same, but I was not teached there still exited original documents.
I was thought that it was just simple to get the truth word of god by comparing various sources. There are 1000 sources. if 999 say the same, 1 says different it is clear what is the copy error and what is the original text.
at elast that was what people thought me, and it makes sense, if indead that would be tha facts. Which of course are not the facts at all...

i tried the one in the newspaper the other day and just about solved it.
but thought i should start small and work my way up to get a better understanding of how it's played.. so i picked up a sudoku mag at target the other day.
it's an easy one and i'm really getting the hang of it and enjoying it.
how many of you always felt like you would be killed at armageddon no matter what you did... it was never enough and your parents put a guilt trip on you?

my parents did not teach me that, and when they had to "direct" talks about that subject, my parents tols me not to take it too seriously
look at what the scans below say.
that publishers spend considerable gas and insurance and time to go from door to door to place the odd magazine or book.
in reality the jw publisher is footing the whole bill and then some.. the jw publisher has to spend about 100 dollars per month for every dollar from donations received for literature sold at the door.. i know this to be true as i used to flog books at the door.
Is it inefficient for the WTS if you spend 100$ a month for them going from door to door?
witnesses are know, growing, when you go door to door you advertize for them, like a walkig advertizement
ineffective? Not really.
It keeps the publisher busy very effectively. No time for worldly things. 'good' company only. The feeling you are doing somethnig well. Keeps them so close to the organisation. Easily checked the obediance of the publishers. Quick to know when publicher are goinf in the "wrong" direction. Very effectively. Very effectively indeed

in other words, if you can find a few errors in the bible, will you throw away the whole notion of the bible being "inspired by god".
example: if you find any error in the bible, will it take away the notion that killing is wrong, or stealing is wrong, .
so where do you draw the line, and accept certain biblical teachings and reject other biblical teachings?.
A few errors could be due to translations in the past (but I agree with Terry that this is a very weak excuss)
But there is not about a few errors, it is about the basic wrong of some of the ideas in the bible.
it is save to say that such a book can't be insprired.
that does not mean that the opposite of everyword is right....
did giving talks, parts on the meetings or even answering make you nervous and how did you handle or deal with it?.
did you ever lie to get out of giving a assignment because of nerves?.
in the begining. But It will go away...
Just because elder and you have so many talks you are not nervous anymore, but feel like tired of all other people making up stories, and you are the one who have to do all :)
