Danny, I`m not englishspeaking either,I`m norwegian. The racism was the "meek"-part, it`s like saying "the blacks should be happy that they`re easy to fool". Look at the secong quote I posted, it`s post 28, if you think they weren`t racist. yes, that one was bad. But I think in the time (1914, in america) this was not a strange thought or arrangement. I think that they way for the acted in South Africa for example showed that recendly they are far from racism. I have to give that to them that they were positive i this way. I think other discrimination in the borg is much worse. Discrimination of Woman, the us <-> them thinking etc. Danny

by Hellrider innow that i got your attention, here`s a quote from the wt, february 1952:.

Actually I did not find the remar in the opening post shocking.
You can say a lot of things about the JW cult, but I do not think they are racists.

Well, after reading the OT, I would more agree with the first actually- jehovah is a racist bigot
- they don't have jehovah's blessing.
Is the word 'colored' now seen as a racist word. Just a question from a non english speaker....
As for me (as if anyone would care) I am probably some european mix, with slightly asian influence, although hard to say. not much known about my ancesters.

Why do these things always degenerate into, "America and Americans are *insert insult or snide remark here*"
I feel very sorry that you feel that way. Most people are americans on the board I think. I think they are very welcome. I do not have any think against americans actually. When we say america is this or that, we do not talk about americans in general but abaout the politics. And I do like America. I like most of the people there, and lived there for some time, which was very enjoyable. I think in many ways america is betetr then my country. In many ways also it isn't in my opinion. There is just a difference in mentality about patriotism. Here it is viewed much more negative then in the states. Like in the states the xpersiion "Made in america' is viewed as positive. We would feel "made in belgium" as much more negative or neutral. Many feel it is better to by products from poor countries as a way of helping them. Maybe it is because in europeans travel a lot more, or countries interact more closely that our view is different. Of course in the Media (tv etc) and politics there is a lot of "america is the best" mentality. Maybe a lot of people feel threathened by this. Especially comming from a religion who always said 'we are the best', some do not like maybe as some media in a country does the same. DannyIt's really sad when people can't just have the graciousness to say, "I'm glad you are happy to be an American as I am happy to be an *insert country of origin here*"
I love this board, but there are many times when I feel very unwelcome here simply because of the fact that I am an American and love my country.

love my country, but wouldn't mind living in another one for awhile. It's all what you are used to. I haven't traveled outside of this country very much, but I know I could live happily in England, Scotland, or in Canada. Poland? No. Malaysia? Definitely NOT! I guess I like capitalism.
Malaysia is very livable actually. And quite capatilistic and free actualy.

As I understand it, the early results have just come in. Apparently, God made it. Who knew?
Can come in handy those comets, he must have thought. Just a slide deflection from the orbit and voila, we have armageddon....

This comet is nine miles long and three miles across. The probe that impacted the comet was the size of a washing machine. To put this in scale, this is the same as "shooting the broad side of a barn" from a few feet away… trust me, targeting is NOT a major problem.
Well actual it is not that simple. It is not from a few feet away but from several hunderd miles or so. But anyway I do not believe in a conspiracy either. Not everything is a conspiracy. It is scientifically really a valuable experiment

Being a post atheist
by Bas insmall summary of my spiritual state/development:.
post atheist to me means i don't even find the question if there is a god important enough to lable myself as someone who doesn't believe in it, it means i actually find the whole question irrelevant, discussing it is irrelevant (trying to prove god doesn't exist is just futile), i just don't believe it, and leaving it behind me.... as for how the world works, i'm a determinist and i like to lable myself that though i don't really believe in lableing either.
determinism is great for understanding things/world/nature/people but a pain as a practicle filosophy to make decisions by, kind of paralysing... in daily life i believe in balance in all things, giving and receiving, working and resting, socialising and taking time for myself, and other things besides that.

Hoi Bas,
I'm atheist also, but probably do not fit exactly in your description. I think that thinking about the question is relevant.
Anyway why the determinism?

Does the organization issue local 'apostate' warnings to BOE's?
by AK - Jeff ini mean if brooklyn became aware, due to calls or letters from an unidentified opposer, do they issue a letter to local bodies of elders warning that a person in their area is an 'active apostate'?
thus giving the elders a 'heads up', perhaps alerting the cong thru local needs parts, and private conversation?
or does brooklyn do little or nothing and let the locals deal with it only if they see problems?.
-
DannyBloem
Are there any signs that brooklyn or whoever monitors this site, and tries to identify apostates.
I mean there are some 'apostates' here that are still in the cong. some even elder etc. If they do enough datamining they can probably find out who it is. Do they try it?
