I am more thinking about an article: It is not wrong to use the term cult. But we are not a false cult, but a true cult ......

New Light (from the 50s) "Religion" now acceptable word
by Odrade in"in 1951, advocates of true worship learned something significant about the term religion.
some of them could well recall 1938 when, at times, they carried the thought-provoking sign religion is a snare and a racket.
from their standpoint then, all religion was unchristian, from the devil.

In regard to them teaching people how to brush their teeth: don't laugh. It may sound awful but some people come into the truth from very disadvantaged backgrounds or just plain bad habits (and I am talking about here in the U.S.) I have met more than one dub with funky bad breath and cheesy teeth. (Sorry to gross anybody out).
Hmm. well we do not have to many back waters here and disadvantaged persons. Of course we have some people who for some reason do not apply normal 'hyginic processes'.
But he made the point, it was better for the cleaning of the room that way. And the way he was though brushing was a lot different then the dentist recomments.
Well, anyway, that was all I needed to hear that it was worse there then in prison.

"Science is not Bad, but there is Bad Science."
by Rod P indon't get me wrong here.
nor will i deny that there are men and women of science who do not work for money or fame or glory, but rather for "truth", and even for the good of the human race and this planet.. scientists are supposed to be unbiased in their research using the universally accepted "scientific method", being completely objective, and working in the sterile environment of the laboratory, removed from outside contamination and social influence.
they themselves are supposed to approach a subject or investigation with patience and open-mindedness, without prejudice or pre-conceived notions.

The question I have for you is: What is the speed of the two beams of light travelling directly towards each other, relative to each other?
The speed of light does not change when the observer has it's own speed. You just cannot add the two speeds. Two objects traveling each with 90% of the speed of light, in the opposite direction. Can still see each other. When they measure the others speed it would be less then the speed of light.I'll comment a bit more on this later. or shall we wait upon a thread for special relativity.
p.s. the   is HTML. I think it is the space character? for some reason it is inserted when replying a post.

hmm, sorry this is a bit silly topic. Just ignore it
Just felt bored, and 'upset' because he does not answer my question that I put so nicely to him.

Should dubs sun-bathe?
by bother_forever inso smoking cigs is a drug, yea like caffine (saw this posted somewhere recently), so then they say, its a defilement, and cause cancer etc.
by this method of thinking, is it also wrong to deliberatly sun-bathe, knowing full well its dangerous (especially here in australia, lots of skin cancers from it) and possibly not showing respect for "the sanctity of life"?.
someone asked me this while i was still a dub, i think it helped put a dent in the old "faith" bridge.

ys it is a bit of a dubble moral here.
obesity and skin cancer seem to be ok. On the other hand we need to eat and a bit of sun. So hard to make rules there.
Anyway in europe nudity is not connected to sex directly. So woman sunbathing topless or nekid, are not more accepted. Although here topless is ok (but a good pioneer sister won't do it) but fully nekid is not erally accepted.

Rice and Beans for the NEXT 30 YEARS!!!!
by BrendaCloutier inomg!
we put an offer on a house in hawaii (kaumana estates subdivision above hilo town on the e side of the big island).
the offer was accepted and now we're jumping through all of the hoops.. it's not the dream house.

Kevan suggested we look, but Hawaii Island has all that I want, including size. But who knows, after we get here, we may visit "there" and move.
Well Fiji is quite big. I am not sure if bigger the hawaii.
Your name sounds french, maybe Tahiti.
I have visited most of the islands and really liked themby the way I misread your post, thought you did not move there. Sorry

In defense of J-Dubs who post here, AKA JWD opposers!!!
by Check_Your_Premises ini just got an im from afin.
apparantly she can't post right now.
i don't know what she did exactly, so i can't speak to her specific offense, but in general i think the absolutely wrong thing to do is ban j-dubs who come here to debate.. .
-
DannyBloem
CYP , if jws want to post on a Apostate site i have no problem but i will not tolerate them calling names and that seems to be their practice as it is with AFIN.
Maybe we should also look for people calling dubs all sort of things, when they post something.

But damn! The place is $425,000 and we went ahead and offered full price. Houses are being bid on and selling for more than asking price! Prices in the area have doubled in the last two years making the dream currently unobtainable for us. Oh well.
oops that is a lot. If that is too much, did you not look to other pacific islands, who are also very very nice. And a lot less expensive? (Fiji - Cook - Tonga etc)

WT advice on "If Your Child is Abused"
by undercover instraight from the wt website.
to stop abuse, you must know it when you see it.
in the numerous books on the subject, experts have listed dozens of telltale signs of abuse that parents can watch for.
-
DannyBloem
This comment is very troubling to me:
Some legal experts advise reporting the abuse to the authorities as soon as possible. In some lands the legal system may require this. But in other places the legal system may offer little hope of successful prosecution.
SOME legal experts? Does that mean some people advise not reporting abuse? To me, these statements seem to be an underhanded way of downplaying the need to report the abuse. These statements are the closest that the entire series of articles comes to saying, "call the authorities".
It sounds all reasonable but they always use the words some etc. Many dubs would conclude exactly the oposite to what they are saying. That is the trick.
In some countries it is indeed useless to go to the autorities. But it should read: Always go to the legal autorities unless thee is totally no legal system around. Many responsible parents choose to seek out professional help for an abused child. Just as you would with a medical doctor, make sure that any such professional will respect your religious views.# Help your child rebuild his or her shattered self-esteem through a steady outpouring of parental love.
# For instance, when Jehovah's Witnesses are confronted with issues involving blood transfusion, they make sure that the doctor respects their religious beliefs. What has the respect with religion to do with the case. The child is not taking blood. What should he respect? What is the issue here?
