About your question, I had that asked recently and I find it hard to answer, especially I'm still considered JW. Me and my friends always said that if tis is not the true religion then tere is no true religion. I still think that is valid.

i have been studing it for years looking for answers....yet for every answer i find there is a counter to it.
the words themselves are twisted by leaders/teachers to fit their personal opinions and adgendas, as well as twisted by trying to rely on our own reasoning to understand them.. a good example would be the way our current system of laws work.. if the supreme court writes a law into the book..say for example.."evil" is anyone who does this....... it is then turned over to a bunch of undereducated enforcers to interpert and judge others they feel are "evil".
they are allowed to accuse and shoot first asking questions later.
The fact is, the bible was compiled out of a series of documents that were floating about in the Christian community in the first couple hundred years after Jesus' death. Who compiled it? The Catholic Church. Why is it inspired? Because Jesus himself commissioned the Church and sent the Holy Spirit to guide it. (Matt. 18:17-18, Matt. 28:20)
This is the WT kind of logic: teh bible is true, because the bible says so...
Do you honestly think that any church could have a straight line of successors and a doctrine on faith and morals that has been UNCHANGED for 2000 years and NOT be guided by the Holy Spirit? It defies imagination.
I think you caqn hardly say that morals and doctrine is unchanged for 2000 years.

but it seems to be more some kind of word game....
One of the traits of a high-control religion is to develop special meanings for words that are only understood in this special way within the group. It is a sectarianistic tactic designed to separate individuals from other people. The meaning of the word "inspired" doesn't change just because someone becomes a JW.
They give a explaination how they use these words, so why would it not change the meaning on how they use it? Some words can have more meanings. My take is that you can find some definitions of these words in which it can be like that, even if you have to shift the definitions a bit as they maybe do....

it can be spirit directed in the way elders are appointed and some other dessisions are made, but not inspired by the way that what they say would be unfailable true, no inspired words....

the point that you make is very valid.
if God wants us to live according to some rules, why are they not clear? Why is nothing in the bible really clear, even the most fundamental questions?
It is not clear what happens when we die, it is not clear what God really is. It is not clear what is good and bad, etc.
So, maybe you could consider it a book of man, not from God and you are heading in the right direction....
