Pulled out of Sex Ed classes

for those of you who had a jw childhood, were you pulled out of sex education classes?

did it bother your conscience if school surprised you with one?

after being deprived from sex knowledge and since the society doesn't make diagrams, how did you learn about it?

Hey the youth book wasn't around when I was growing up. I had the good ole truth book. Yee Haw.

Didn't go to sex classes. I was of the age to date and my mom informed me one day,if you come home pregnant I will cut it out of you. I turned around at her and looked, MOM, how would I get pregnant. She was shocked. Then she proceeded to say, "You see those two dogs in our front yard?" Yes, that is sex! So the sex talk was done and over.

Well this was not real cool as my ex and I well....what was the hole it belonged in? We were both stupid, uneducated. My kids know. Yep I told them.

What Made You Leave The "Truth"? Was It False Prophecy, People, Blood, etc.

jw's like to believe that people who leave the organization do it for selfish reasons or due to impatience and not "waiting on jehovah".

there's a variety of reasons for persons making the decision and saying, "that's it!

i'm not doing this anymore".

I left because I have long hair and it always needed washing on thursday night. There was no time except meeting time to get things together.

I left because of what happened to my son. Someone had to fight for his rights and if wasn't going to be the elders it had to be me. I went against all the counsel that was given. I took her to court, i put my son in therapy.

Would you ever come back for someone you loved?

if there was someone you were crazy about who went back to associating with jw's again and they asked you to come back too, only because to live dividedly for the rest your life would be just too hard and awkward.

keep in mind your role would be very limited, few meetings a month, couple hrs service a month etc.. i know "if" this was before me i would feel that i would never ever want to come back.

i don't believe it is the truth, can't stand the control among other reasons.

I am dating an older man right now. Have known him for 6yrs. He is 63 and so loving. He also is very religious. He teaches a christian whatever to little children. Three times a week. He never was a jws and really doesn't care who they are. Even with his beliefs he can see where I am coming from and he understands that I will not go where I do not want to go and he still understands. After his wife died he had to comes to terms with life and death.

If he didn't he could take a walk and he also knows that. We do our own thing but come together for life and love. We don't expect anything from each other except love. I don't expect for him to fit my profile and he doesn't expect me to fit his.

To me this is a perfect balance in life. He also is very bible literate so we share alot. Although the stuff he comes up with makes me roar. He went through the bible to disprove some stuff about homosexuals because I was dealing with my youngest son and how I relate to it all. He said well if you are going to take the bible at face value you better start sacrificing a bull on sunday. Love was what the main message was and that I needed to show unconditional love and not allow another human being to tell me how to deal with. Search your heart, search your soul and go with what you are feeling.

I did and have never been happier.

Only having parties in our minds, kind of like being back in the jws and thinking the new system is right around the corner.

Go out and treat yourself on this momentous, memorable occasion..of course not with wine and bread but passing you a white russian with some grapes.

My dad was the only person I would ever have thought about going back for. When he realized it was not something I could do because it would kill me, he stepped down as an elder. He would not turn me in and would not sit in on cases that he would have to vote to stay or go. He had had enough. Who was he to judge were his words to me. He loved me enough to let me make my own decision.

If a person loves another deeply, they will not ask you to do something that hurts you.

Like another poster said, there are billions of others and there is always going to be someone who we click with.

Who really writes the talks

hallo everyone.

the earlier thread about the min school reminded me of the number of times that i researched and at least partly put together items and pub talks for 'he must be obeyed'.. this was necessary because he worked full time in a demanding job which left very little leeway for cobbling the many assignments together.

at first being a good dub wife i felt guilty at doing this but in talking to others whose husbands also worked full time and were not part time cleaners or window cleaners i found that several other elders wives had always done this.. not only the talks but also sorting out the school assigments, the schedules, field service arrangements, sorting the auditing, coach and accomodation for the dc and ca, checking the accounts etc.. lots of these sisters also helped their children put together their items.. rather makes a mockery of the male privilege of "taking the lead".. most elders and ms are unable to cope with all the pressures and work if their wives dont do most for them.

My dad wrote all his talks. He owned his own business in Ohio which he sold to go where the need was great.

I might not have my dad with me anymore in flesh but he was loving enough to send me his Sunday talks at the various halls he went to. I am thankfull because I have nothing from him except his voice. I don't give a crap that he is speaking on religious stuff. Just hearing it makes me feel closer to him.

I never wrote talks for my eldest son. I figured if he wanted to join the ministry school he had to do it himself. My ex wrote all his own stuff.

Oh I was the sister who would get on the platform with a short dress. Never realized that the elders frowned on that.

I guess I always lived within a good congregation compared to some of the others here.

but not according to me.. for the number of jws still going strong the ones here is but a handful, so mabye most of you are just pitiful whiners who should accept a little personal responsibility for your lives and quit trying so hard to blame someone or something.

Sometimes we don't know the full scope of what others are going through. How deep their pain is. Maybe we whine because we don't have any other useful tool to use. Maybe our social skills were lacking as being raised JWs we were not always given what we needed to succeed in the world.

God my social skills suffered. Just ask my kids.

I don't take anything personally. I just want others to think and try to be in someone else's shoes before we label anyone. I have been labeled to many things in this life. Right now I believe my new label is airhead.

How Sad

i have a distant cousin, 15 and in a wheel chair.

she's always saying how she can't wait until the new system comes when finally she'll be set free from her handicap and can run around with joyful glee.

it breaks my heart knowing this is never gonna happen and makes me even more angrier.

Well back in the good old days we were admonished to pioneer. Why waste time when the end was so near. Sell your houses, sell your cars, don't fix those rotten teeth. Move to where the need is great. Don't go to school as this is not going to bring you closer to Jehovah and we don't want to upset Jehovah do we?

In 1975 my family sold their business home and moved to Mass to pioneer where the need was great. We were not allowed to go to school because it was a waste of time, we had to pioneer.

The times have changed and so has this religion but once again, and again and again. At least I didn't wait for the New System before I had kids that were never suppose to start kindergarten, let alone me going to kindergarten.

Kmart is flashing the blue light special today. Come and get the new light sale. WE have new light but once again.

i am a christian man interested in a jw woman, but i, myself, am not jw.

i have read on some sites that the jw faith does not allow christians to date outside their faith.

Now as far as dating one, my dad did. He lived to regret it. My mom never stopped nagging him until he finally became an elder. He went through seven years of no sex, but masturbating and mom took him to the elders. Well gee, sex is a part of life. The elders were non the less upset. Gee to have your genitals exposed in public for all to know that you are wanking off is enough to stop me from sharing my innermost thoughts with the one i love. Ok, so I am a woman, none of them are going to get in my mind.

This is a big step. Think before you leap. Great points were made by others.

Whatever you decide you go in with open eyes and heart. It is a choice you have to make and only your choice.
