  Circuit Ass last weekend

  theme was based on the scripture to "clothe yourselves with the new personality" .

  program had 2 symposiums and various other talks.

  i didnt take notes... stopped doing that a while ago but i did manage to listen to some of the program.

  Fascinating that they admit to such problems in such a public and prominent manner.

  Way way back, like 5 or so years ago, the poster "Maximus" referred to internally-known-but-never-revealed statistics that something like 80% of JW youth eventually get d-f'ed or fade away. A certain percentage of them eventually come back, but it is a significantly lower number. The poster's thoughts were that if such information ever became common knowledge, JW parents would essentially throw up their hands and say "why bother even trying to raise my kids as JWs?"

  And now, the message is being proclaimed by high-ranking personnel from a Circuit Assmebly stage?!?

  WTS 2006 Special Campaigns

  in a boe letter dated 2/2/06, the wts listed four special campaigns for 2006:memorial, wed apr 12, 2006 (in a boe letter dated 2/3/06 wts wants elders to help all inactive & new ones attend the memorial.

  the letter said attending the memorial is often a stepping stone to serving jehovah...visit every inactive person in the territory and give an invitation, give every family member that is friendly to the message an invitation).special public talk, sun apr 30, 2006special handbill to advertise district convention - wts is printing handbills to advertise the "deliverance at hand" district convention.

  three weeks before the convention, jws will distribute the handbill in the territory, with family members, and others.

  Memorial , Wed Apr 12, 2006 (In a BOE letter dated 2/3/06 WTS wants elders to help all inactive & new ones attend the Memorial. The letter said attending the Memorial is often a stepping stone to serving Jehovah...visit every inactive person in the territory and give an invitation, give every family member that is friendly to the message an invitation).

  Didn't the worldwide Memorial attendance actually drop between 2004 & 2005?

  Look like they are quite anxious to try to stem what could be the first in a long line of tangible, negative results.

  Interesting experiment with your WT Library 1999 edition CD-ROM

  this may work with the newer versions but it only worked for me with the 1999 version.. you'll need:.

  1. your 1999 wt library cd-rom.

  2. winamp (a media player program that many of you probably already have).

  What would happen if I asked Brooklyn for this?

  i want a copy of the "x-mas" issue of the golden age; the issue that describes that dubs can practice xmas, but i need the actual paper maybe with a note on dub stationary that it is an actual copy.. it's easy to find the text on-line, but i have yet to find a hard copy in a kh library.. what will brooklyn do if i ask for one?

  i'm serious because i made this claim and now i can't prove it.

  How much longer can the 'anointed' Governing Body last?

  what was the latest figure for memorial partakers?

  there has been plenty of feedback to suggest that the wt consider many to be wrongly partaking of the bread & wine and don't accept this whole number to be truly of the remnant of the 144,000. we'll be generous and say that they are all genuine.. take women out of the equation and you may be left with about 4000 men - the ladies live longer ;).

  remove those that don't speak english and you may be down to perhaps 3000. remove those that cannot relocate to the usa and you might be left with 2000. remove those that may actually decline an invitation to the governing body - well not too many i guess so let's stick at 2000. remove those that require constant nursing or healthcare and you could be down to your last 1000. finally, remove those who are simply not up to the job .

  There's that new Nethanim class or whatever it's called.

  As I recall, the Nethinim are non-anointed who are on the various GB committees (Writing, Legal, etc.).

  But I do seem to recall mention of a small group of anointed ones in Bethel, also serving in various high-ranking positions.

  yo elders, is there a statue of limitations on "sins"?

  i know we have heard about it as regards an elder who has "sinned" and keeps it quiet, he does not have to step down.

  but when it comes to the lowly rank and file, what would you do, or "have " to do if you found out about some actions of a publisher that occurred a few years ago?

  also does a person who leaves the truth and then wants to come back after a number of years have to confess to all the stuff they did when they were out ?

  Do do recall a BOE letter that basically stated that if it was discovered that an elder had committed a "serious" sin many years ago that it could be over looked.

  It was a Kingdom Ministry from the early 70's. It should be easy to find if you have a WT-CD.

  didn't i read somewhere on this forum that there is a "pool" of 50-100 "young annointeds" (aged 50-60 or so) that have various responsibilities in bethel?

  and that as replacements are needed in the gb, they are drawn from this pool?

  the last 4 or 5 gb members most recently appointed are "young annointed" ones.. so, for all you ambitious young ms's out there, here is the career track:.

And that as replacements are needed in the GB, they are drawn from this pool? The last 4 or 5 GB members most recently appointed are "young annointed" ones.

  So, for all you ambitious young MS's out there, here is the career track:

  1) Become a super-pioneer, which will lead to...

  2) Get appointed as an elder young (age 30 or less)

  3) The key point here - Begin partaking of the emblems, BUT NOT TOO YOUNG! Maybe around age 40-45. Show'em you're "mature", not a nut or an emotional basket case.

  4) Do things to get noticed by Bethel. Become a substitute CO, or maybe be a temp Bethel worker 2 or 3 months a year. Get on their radar screen as a (1) organization man (2) an emblem partaker and (3) not an obvious nutcake.

  5) Wait for the invitation to serve at Bethel. It should come by the time you're 50 or so (once they've seen you partaking and acting "normally" for 5-10 years).

  6) Wait for the old codgers on the current GB to die off. Then you're in, baby!

  six months after becoming the largest christian denomination to endorse same-sex marriage, the united church of christ (ucc) reported that less than 1 percent of its churches have separated from the denomination.

  the ucc report, issued thursday, noted that 49 churches -- out of 5,725 churches total -- have voted to disaffiliate, and nearly all of those cited disagreement with the ucc marriage equality resolution, adopted in early july.

  "the number of departing churches is far fewer than some had earlier expected," said john h. thomas, president and general minister of the ucc.

  How can one have a "meaningful discussion" if he adamantly refuses to even consider changing his viewpoint, regardless of any new information or perspective he may receive from said discussion?
