Hard to say for sure, but it seems most likely to be some sort of safety consideration.

Baptism during Covid - pool must tough the ground?
by jwfacts inthe july 2020 announcements mentions that baptism can be held in an “inflatable pool” as long as it touches the ground.
the pool must not be “on a terrace, flat roof, balcony, etc.”.
has anyone ever noticed that as a requirement?.

Was It Designed? (My head hurts)
by Cadellin ini know i shouldn't--i tell myself this over and over--but i can't help peeking at these silly articles.
and then i see this and my head really starts hurting: so the gannet, if you don't know (and why would you?
) is a seabird that feeds on fish.

Here is the quote I alluded to earlier:
"Another thing, is one justified in concluding that the way an animal uses its body today is the only possible way? As an example, a tiger uses its fangs and claws to catch, kill and tear apart other animals. Yet, could not these same fangs and claws be used in tearing apart heavy vegetation and ripping off husks and shells?" Watchtower 1969 Sep 1 p.543

There was a laughable "Questions From Readers" article from sometime in the 60s that speculated that lions, tigers, etc. had razor sharp claws & teeth so that they could "shred tough vegetation" in the garden of Eden.
I guess coconuts? I dunno.
The QFR never addressed why cheetahs were "designed" to run for bursts of up to 60 mph. All the coconut trees I've ever seen move considerably slower than that.

“The Asiatic Mind” — Watchtower 1956
by slimboyfat insearching instances of the word “simplify” in watchtower literature, i stumbled across this.. the asiatic mind finds it difficult to accept new ways, to simplify and to make advantageous changes.
they fear conversion and dislike others’ offering them help.
many continually live in a realm of unreality and refuse to face modern facts of life.

Holy crap! Are you sure that isn't from 1856?
Well, at least they didn't see anything about brain size or the shape of the skull....

Who Do You Think Would Be A Good Running Mate For Joe Biden?
by minimus init seems like the only possibilities are women of color.
no whites need apply.. maybe he will change his mind and ask hillary clinton?
?.
-

Trump is having a hard time with Biden's pick.
She is:
-- A Democrat
-- A woman
-- From California
-- Asian-American
-- A woman of color
-- Mother was from India
-- Father was from Jamaica
His brain is frozen - there's too much to process, he can't decide which characteristic / ethnicity to insult first.

So in the assembly they put in no use of medical drugs
by tottenkopf inso watching the cults assembly video i am a bit confused about the whole girl asking about marijuana.
non medical use what exactly is that.
what do they mean "medical?
-
sir82
JWs are allowed to take drugs (even things like opiods & marijuana) if they are prescribed by a doctor. This would be "medical" use of drugs.
If they don't have a doctor's prescription but use these drugs anyway, that is "non-medical" or "recreational" use and that will get you DF'ed. Or, as in the case of the convention video, it will prevent you from "qualifying" to be an unbaptized publisher.

So according to wt. Doctrine, If you die one day before Armageddon...
by nowwhat? inyou will be resurrected.
but if you live one more day when armageddon starts you will die a horrible death with no chance of a resurrection.
makes sense to me!.
-
sir82
Not to mention that every day that Armageddon delays, there are about 360,000 new babies born.
That's about 130 million newborn babies per year.
So no matter when Armageddon comes, there will be 130 million babies less than one year old who will be slaughtered by Jesus & his 144,000 cohorts. 260 million below the age of 2, etc.
Infants who would not have to have been slaughtered if Armageddon had come a year or 2 earlier.
Infants who will be slaughtered because their parents refused to accept a magazine from a mumbling 10 year old "unbaptized publisher", or because their parents ignored the poorly-dressed loons manning an apathy cart, or because they threw out a barely legible unsolicited letter which does little more than point them to a website.
Isn't that happifying?

meditation now OK
by tottenkopf ini see ken flodine spelling saying in the new zoom assembly that you should meditate.
when i was in the cult that was a huge no no.
it was called blanking your mind and the demons could take control.
-
sir82
SBF is exactly right.
"Meditate" is another one of those words that they have redefined to suit their needs.
Meditate = sit and think about WT writings.
Spiritual = performing actions that WT approves of
Mature = not questioning anything that the WT has written
Etc.
