I don't think there's anything in writing on this.
It's likely a local decision. Could well be that it's a case of elders on a power trip.

pioneer.
was told that it was always this way.. i can't remember this question on the form for aux.

while a man might hold a particular office, there is no guarantee that his personal faith will continue.
there are a number of older.
brothers , at bethel and elsewhere, who quietly hold to a 'it's a good life' view of the 'truth' - as opposed to the blind zombie-faith of.
How would that be any different from what they're doing now?
I think that's the point. Such a process has already begun - quietly.
this weeks study of daniel's prophecy book.
this one made me really feel sick....
chapter 16, page 273-275 #7-10. i never saw this and it was there - all the time!
Who's feeling brave this week?
Anyone who still attends want to raise their hand on this paragraph and ask the conductor, "So, might Jehovah still be using this tactic today? Might some of the elders and other 'high ranking ones' here in our country, or here in our circuit, or even here in our congregation, really be 'spies' used by Jehovah to cleanse and refine his organization now?"
my brother in law wants to know::: if jw's don't have the truth then where do you go to worship?
if i had something better then he would follow?
i know i have heard this before from jw's but couldn't find the thread to answer him correctly.
My answer has always been, "That's not the issue. Let's stick to the issue. Do the JWs have the "truth" or not?"
Since JWs are so fond of illustrations, this might also be effective:
"If I see a movie theater on fire, and the patrons inside are unaware of it, my responsibility is to yell and warn them to flee the theater. It is not my responsibility to look up information on which other theaters in another part of town are showing the same movie".

Someone has to pick the "right" one...
here is some news from a source within one of the wts branches:
hot news from todays morning worship announcement worldwide -- letter from gb being read on 1st of march 2006 to every branch (hopefully we will have a copy of the letter soon.).
as of aug. 31, 2006 the bethel elder arrangement will be dissolved!
A Bethel elder is just another link that could get them into "deep pocket" issues involving traffic accidents or child molestation.
I don't follow this.
If the Society gets sued over one of these issues, and "names are named", who gives a hoot whether "the name" had some sort of internal feel-good appointment?
If I screw up at work and the company gets sued, does it matter that I'm also president of the social committee?
If someone makes a bad policy decision leading to a lawsuit, what difference does it make if the instituion of "Bethel elder" exists or not?
it's only march 1st and already several things have happened in witless land.... 1) awake!
goes monthly beginning january 1, 2006.. 2) to be confirmed: bound volumes cease production.
3) confirmed by congregation letter: paperback bibles replace hardback bibles.
WT Special Campaign for 2006 re: District Convention
I too am in the dark on this oneThanks in advance for any info
There was a BOE letter earlier this month. In an effort to drum up enthusiasm for the District Convention, publishers are supposed to hand out handbills advertising the District Convention. I haven't seen the handbills yet, do I don't know what they contain.
Something like 3 weeks before the convention, each publisher will get 50 handbills, to pass out to people in the door to door work and/or return visits.
This really seems like a lame-o idea. Like, a householder is going to say, "Wow, maybe I should make a 300 mile round trip to hear a symposium on the contents of Obadiah". They won't drive 2 miles to go to the local Kingdom Hall, what makes the Society think they will travel great distances to hear Brother Decrepit wheezingly read a manuscript on the dangers of internet porn?
And besides, does the Society really want Joe Public attending a district convention? That's where the really wack-o ideas, the ones they won't put in writing, are expounded.
What would a "worldly person" with a ounce of comprehension or intellect have thought of last year's drama, where Timothy refuses to go the "University of Athens", but his buddy goes "so he can run the family business" and nearly "falls out of the truth"?

I suspect Teddy Jaracz is getting jealous of the power of these SS troops and wants it all to himself. They would certainly be the first segment of the Borg to go apostate, if any. Like when Rutherford cleansed the congregation overseers and made "elders" who he wanted to. Big move, and I doubt it is financial.
Whoa!
So, this may be some sort of pre-emptive strike to ward off mass defections and/or apostasy?
Are the cracks in the tower growing?

I'm not the world's deepest thinker, but I don't see the reason for this. I've never served in the "big house", but isn't "Bethel Elder" just basically like an informal counselor? I.e., kind of like a congregation elder, but his work is related to "spiritual" matters that affect Bethel life. Like if Joe Bookbinder has a problem with Freddie Gluesticker while at work, they go to a Bethel elder who reads them 25 different scriptures on "putting up with one another", and they go on their merry way.
Virtually all significant decisions of the past 10-15 years seem to be driven by 2 factors: (1) saving (or making) $$$, and (2) protecting themselves from possible litigation.
What does [eliminating Bethel elders] do to serve either of those 2 purposes?
Plus, one would think this would further lower morale, which is likely quite low anyway ddue to the looming downsizing. For those who are really into that sort of thing, being named as a "Bethel elder" carried a certain cachet, and perhaps enabled some to better endure the drudgery of day-to-day work. Why take away a"feather in one's cap"?
Or is the role of "Bethel elder" more significant than I have understood it to be?
i went to the beach once with a friend of mine and judah ben schroeder.. i was not attracted to him sexually.. i was not attracted to my friend sexually.. the water was warm.
my friend's mother was there but is dead now.
he married an english girl.
Didn't he marry the daughter of the guy who runs "Circuit Leasing"? Or am I confusing my facts again?
