just got this email from a jw about an hour ago: .
"i just went to an anti-jw site.
i was surprised to learn that we cover up child molesters, especially since it was announced that we should report child abuse accusations to the police.
It has always been my understanding that the elders "should" encourage or at least support a victim if they wanted to go to the police over an issue. The thing is in a tight-knit community like the JW's I think its very unlikely that an elder will put his neck on the line to do that.
I heard a talk shortly before I left explaining this policy and yes elders should do this, but I think realistically they are unlikely to do so.
got a phone call from my daughter who lives in florida a couple of hours ago.
her significant other who i chose to call my son-in-law (because he is the best thing to ever happen to her) got a phone call that his 6 year old daughter was killed in an auto accident near lake placid, florida and his 5 year old son is in very critical condition.
the ex wife is also critical.
This is awful, my thoughts are with you....

Without wanting to sound too noble, I hope I can help people who have left the borg, just like people helped me when I joined the site.
Additionally, I had some good friends who I hope may have left since I spoke to them and this seems like the best place for them to come if they left.

i'd like to be 2 inches taller with the same weight proportion.. i'd like to have nicer skin.. i'd like to be a little more muscular.. other than that, i'm not too unhappy with my looks.. all things the new system would have brought me..... .
I quite like the way I look, I could be a little bit taller, and I could lose a bit of weight, but other than that I happy overall.
That is great I bet the brothers and sisters in her territory will use this for conversation starters

a number of people of late have noticed the concilliatory stance i take towards the jehovah's witnesses -- both as individuals and even as an organization.
they have quite rightly pointed out that i appear to "defend" the organization and it's members from attacks that i feel are unwarranted or unnecessary.
too often, i feel, this forum becomes a gripe session in which mighty ex-jw throngs feel the need to paint the organization or individual jws as totally devoid of any good qualities whatsoever.
My view and upset is directed purely at the GB. At the end of the day the actions of individual elders are down to human imperfection and the fact they are governed by the GB.
The elders and other witnesses are the 'face' of the GB and their silly laws, sometimes Im not sure people always remember that.
On the other hand these people do have free will....

Im thinking about doing so but im not sure how to approach the subject.
i'm going to try to make a long story short.... i moved away from my home city for grad school 2 years ago and left a couple boxes at my mom's for safe keeping.
my mom ended up moving to a new place during the 2 years i was in school.
i noticed on visits that there was only one box i recognized stored out in her new garage and asked her about it...she got defensive and said she took all that was boxed.
I remember once i put some of my ex mother in laws old photos in our cellar and they got damp and ruined. I have never felt so guilty!
Your Mum probably feels terrible about it.
