Were you a loud singer?
by HockeyMullet ini don't know why, but i was just thinking of this guy in my hall that sang so loud that it was embarassing to just be there.
he sounded like the love child of kermit the frog and miss piggy.
i remember trying to mimick his voice during one song and getting counseled by one of the bros because i had a few of younger guys laughing.

I work in IT, but more on the sales/marketing side. I think the best way to move forward career wise with it is to get a job that lets you do as much as possible, different areas of it. Simply get as much practical experience as possible and work hard at at, Obviously keeping up to date with things as they change.
Good luck!

Appreciative of the positive side of having been a JW
by exwitless inlately i've come to the conclusion that i cannot change my past 14 wasted years with the borg; i can only learn from my experiences and resolve to improve on my life from here on out.
i no longer have to "wait for jehovah" or the "new system" to make my life better; i can apply my own intellect, power of reasoning, and free will to accomplish what i want to do.. one thing i've come to appreciate is that had i not been a jw, and in turn an ex-jw, i may have never actually questioned the deep philosophical issues that are discussed on this board.
i may be stuck as a "nominal" christian (forgive the wt-speak), being content to half-heartedly believe what i was raised to believe.

i think doing things like the door to door work give you balls (for want of a better word!) and thats defintely helped me to be a bit more outgoing, and I I now work in marketing its helped.
I know exactly what you mean though. If nothing the whole thing has been a learning experience. Even if it was a bit 'intensive'!

'2' is more likely but he wasn't full on preacher mode, he seemed quite genuine- maybe thats the trap!!! Anyway I definitely think letting him lead the conversations is the best and simplest way to go.

Do you like being a

Dont get dunked. The reason I say that is because of the situation with my family. Except for my dad and youngest brother we all left the truth. Me and my other brother did get baptised- he was df'd and I da'd myself. My sister never got baptised and instead drifted and did her own thing. Guess which one of us my dad and brother still speak to?? My sister because she was never technically a witness. Its for the best if you do leave and want to stay in touch.
Surely if you are an elders daughter you should have been baptised at like 12 or something??? (kidding)

Hi all! Woo! how are you all doing?
Anyway, a crazy thing happened yesterday. My little brother came online and we chatted. Thats the first time ive spoken to him in 2 years! He is still a JW along with my dad and I havent spoken to either of them in that time.
Now he is back in contact I dont know quite how to behave. I dont want to offend him or I prob wont hear from him again.
But at the same time the big protective brother in me just wants to shake him out of this brainwashed state of delusion!
we did talk about religion a bit, tho I didnt go into anything. The point I did put across was that everything that he does should be between him and god- no one else matters (including elders etc) I just wanted him to remember that. Belief in god or anything is fine by me, but follwing trivial rules of the JWdom isn't right. Just by saying that I hope I put a little point across if nothing else.
So what should I do? Any subtle little approaches anyone can suggest? If this was someone elses thread I could probably reel off a few, but because I'm 'emotionally attached' to this situation its really hard to do that! Any feedback would be gratefully received!
Thanks. As ever you are all stars!

I've personally never been an elders daughter (obviously) but I understand where you are coming from. Even if you dont get any kind of preferential treatment, it might not stop people thinking that you do. Thats the worst thing about it.

Have a listen...
by Tez inif you like cold play/oasis style music listen to my son's stuff on myspace.com/markwilks its not everyone's taste but i am very proud of him.
he writes his own lyrics and i can see how his upbringing as a jw has influenced some of his songs.
