i'm thinking along the lines of how you perceive/deal with other people, your attitudes, prejudices, learned behaviours, etc.

.... i'll get us started .... growing up jw, i was taught to expect perfection.

A Customer really pissed me off yesterday at work: SHE WANTS TO PRAY for me

i work in a bookstore that specializes in buying its goods directly from the public second-hand and reselling them at half price.. .

it is a large chain of 83 stores in 8 states and does about 100 million a year.. .

i'm in charge of the religion and the philosophy sections.. .

Just got back from doing volunteer work in tsunami affected area.

I was walking out of my accomodation one day and two young guys bail me up. I thought they needed directions so stopped. They were both staring right through me, kinda creepy. I asked if they were volunteers.

Uumm no just around talking to people... Both look at each other and laugh.

I get ready to move off as ther vagueness and staring made me wonder if they were mentally unstable or stoned.

Oh ..we were wondering if there was anything we could pray over for you..

CHRISTIANS!!!!!

We are in the middle of a disaster area with people still dying and no housing and they want to PRAY for me(?!), a white middle class person who can leave when they want?

I was so thunderstruck that I couldn't suggest them putting a shovel in their lilley white hands and get in the dirt and just shut up about their belief.

After I declined, they both laughed to each other apparently full of the spirit, joyfull in knowing they did the lord's work........

were any of you aware that in the mind of ct russell, apostates were considered this as stated in the october 1 wt .

some of them smite us and then claim that we did the smiting.

Interesting statistic about JWs in this week's Newsweek

i just got this week's newsweek in the mail.

the cover story is "spirituality in america".

page 54 has a table listing change in religious self-identification between 1990 and 2001. the four bottom religions, with negative percentages, are jehovah's witnesses (-4%), jewish, rastafarian, and protestant.

What I saw as major flaw with the wts is its obsession with stats. Really if the truth is really the truth why run it like a two bit company with pen pushers madly tapping in figures? Who cares if only 3 people know the "truth"?

I reckon its all part of the windup.. We are winners! See? Look at our figures.(read company profits)

Now that things aren't going so hot the figures need plumping just like a company in trouble. Don't want the shareholders getting nervous do we?

What do shareholders do when they get nervous?

They sell out.....
