  Describe the WILDEST JW party you ever attended!! no seriously......

  i realize this is totally context and culturally dependent, but the old toronto jw youth scene was quite wild during the years 1984-1994. .

  one example, a group of about 40 jw kids would go up to a ski resort (usually mount st.louis/moonstone or blue mountain) over the x-mas week-end.

  one year we rented out a block of rooms in a resort close to the ski lodge.

  This thread dredged up a memory from the misty past. It was a circuit ass. just before I was to be baptised. Saturday night we all had a few drinks and decided on a swim. One young sister had no bathers, so decided to swim in her underwear......which of course was completely see thru. She would have been about sixteen and knew exactly what she was doing.

  Alas, an elder who wasn't getting any at home, decided that this was an opportunity too good to miss and had his hand down her pants in about 10 secs flat!

  Needless to say, this gave his wife an excuse to divorce him.

  The girl eventually married a friend of mine(yeah she was hot) and they now live in middle class jw land

  Certainly been to much wilder parties but as a jw? Nah

  the old kh i went to would give off this strange smell of burnt paint ever time the central heating was put on.

  mulan's thread, and simon's post thereto, got me to thinking about this, especially in terms of what i might be today, minus the influence of the wts.. by nature, i was always an introvert.

  early on (age 10 or so), i immersed myself in mathematics, physics, chemistry...the "pure" sciences, devoid of "worldly" meaning...just the plain and simple facts, thank you ma'am.

  i'd stay in my room and study stuff until my mom had to literally grab me by the ear and say "craig, go outside and blow off the stink!.

  Does it bother you to realize that life is normal for those left behind?

  you know when you leave a religion or a place you worked at for a long time.

  you want to feel that perhaps there will be a missing irreplaceable piece, that represents the effort you put into the work.

  you know what i talking about, the comment at work of "this place would be lost without me" or in the religion "i am the main person who encourages field service around here.

  ok, i've been watching the show "inked" on a&e and i think it's a really cool show about tattoo artists in las vegas.

  and lately i've been thinking about getting a tattoo somewhere on my body, possiblely my lower back.

  my sister has one there and i think it's really cool.

  All have meaning for me, as they are signposts of change in my life and attitude.

  Painful?

  Depends where. I had my chest done in Thailand with a bamboo needle and the guy rubbed in the ink with a rag. 5 or 6 hrs

  What silly rules did your congregation make up?

  elders were famous for making up stupid rules with no bible base at all as an ego trip i guess, what were some of yours?

  i am not talking about the stupid rules that we all had to follow, just the congregation specific silly ones.. 1. having to button your jacket while on stage (this was later changed due to all the elders having a beer gut).

  I remember a local elder giving a talk about long hair but it was in the eighties when long hair was way out.

  He gave himself as an example of balance and modesty, shaved from neck to crown with this little buzz cut on top. Ab high fashion at the time!

  I tactfully pointed this out after the meeting. He went purple with rage.

  There went the priviliges again.....

  How precisely will god save the JWs at armageddon?

  have you ever wondered, based upon the artists conception below, how it is jehovah will supposedly "save" the witnesses during his "great day of vengeance(tm)".

  i mean, will he transport all 6 million of them into waiting cruise ships while he is throwing fireballs onto the earth?

  how will all the dubs avoid falling into those giant crevasses as he starts the continental earthquakes?

  I'm sure the all loving god won't mind losing a bit of collateral damage in the great day.

  He can just resurrect them.

  Simple.

  Who cares about the trauma they faced, the agony and fear. Ah divine justice.

  Remember the god of the hebrews loved a sacrificial restful smoke. Is that napalm?

  i was wondering especially from some of the old timers out there jw's or ex-jw's that really understand the jw's concept of the reserrected dead during the 1000 reign of jesus christ.

  do they believe that the people brought back from the dead will have to convert to jw's in order to live on for eternity?

  i know this sounds like a stupid question but i was talking to a jw's elder the other day and he told me that people like my grandmother who was a "devout born-again baptist" would have to study and become a jw's in the 1000 year reign before she could enter into paradise.

  Don't forget the final cleansing after the thousand year reign when wickedness will be completely removed ( and all errant resurrected ones).

  The fear and dread of almighty god goes on a lot longer than just armageddon
