This place is near Chiang Mai in north Thailand. They take in elephants that have been mistreated or are no longer employed (used to be working in logging). At least they are well kept and are still working, which seems is important for their wellbeing.
I stayed in CM for a number of weeks but never went, thinking at the time it was exploitation but have since mellowed and will visit next time...lol
Kinda made me think about eating meat when I watched that. How smart and sentient are animals???
over the past few weeks there have been some werid things happening in my life, several times in fact.. what has happened ( without having to explain every situ) is that i have been lets say person a looking for situation b, and suddenly and without trying i have met situation b who is looking for person a. this has happened very ramdomly and i couldn't say that there was any serious intent behind it except that i had a desire to find somthing at the same time as someone else and somehow we ended up finding eachother... but we met without trying in a utterly ramdom way???.

and don't say its god becuase i've spent night after night in my past in tears begging, pleading with god to do somthing, and nothing nothing has happened!.

I don't want to take over the thread but in my opinion, dreaming is where many answers are.
Australian aboriginies call their "religion" the Dreamtime. I too have powerful dreams that at times, have had profound effects on my outlook and life.
Actually, there was a Swedish man who came to Australia in the early 20th century and took artifacts and bones from Aboriginal sacred sites. He was a non believer in the spirit world but was sung to death and he acknowledged that before the end. He was being driven insane by the droaning of the didjeridoo and singing. Strangely, he wrote his dreams/nightmares into paintings (which is now a book) which were Dreaming stories he couldn't have known... I saw the documentary of his daughter bringing the artifacts back to give peace to her father's memory and of course the rest of the family.

I don't believe in gods demons etc either but I have experienced enough in my travels to know that there is something more to existence than being born, procreating and dying.
There is a subconscious world, which I believe, science is starting to explore seriously. This is anecdotal, but I was told that psychiatrists are now researching shamanism, as it has an uncanny ability to treat schizophrenia.
Actually I visited a shaman that was famous for treating this very illness but did not discuss it with her.
The human brain and will are very powerful tools and like it or not, we spend a large part of our very lives in the subconscious world.

That's the issue I face looking for older women to date. I haven't met one in years that doesn't bring out the baggage within an hour of meeting.

IMO young women are more adventerous and enquiring. It is a put down to say this is just innocence/lack of experience with men, as today's young women are savvy independent and know what they want.
Plus I don't hassle them to go out, they often ask me.
Funny, the women I know who go out with young guys, without exception will call them handbags and openly admit it is just sex.
And good on 'em. Life's too short I reckon.
according to some, we humans have a conscious mind, a subconscious mind and , perhaps, a superconscious mind.
it might be otherwise called the "higher self".. i read up on this subject years ago because i occasionally have experiences that suggest that some vastly more clever intelligence helps me (whenever it feels so inclined!)..
i can remember getting into trouble at work and , out of nowhere, coming up with some split second insight that saved me - so much so, that i had to ask myself, "where did that come from?".
On a slightly different note, I was in India years ago, looking for "truth" in all the wrong places. Previously I had used numerous hallucinagens and had really pushed the envelope in ceremoney etc. I was staying in a village high up in the Himalayas and had an Israeli family as neighbours. One evening I went over to visit and the dad was with his daughter settling her for bed. She was reading a children's book in Hebrew to her father. I sat quietly waiting and the 5 yr old turned to me with these deep dark eyes staring through me said something and then turned back to her reading.
The father was confused, so I asked what she said. She was reading Alice In Wonderland and she said "You be careful following rabbits down rabbit holes, as you don't know where they will lead you"
Freaked me out especially when the dad said she channels lots of stuff and her mother said she is the reincarnation of her (the mother) best friend who died as a teen. She would say things only the friend could have known....

did humankind use them in the past with good results, for the benefit of their tribe, or community?
did some preform healings under the influence of them, wasn't this ritualistic use a predate of any organized type of religion.. in fact the way i see it, for government to forbid its use is,, not only a gross infringement of one's civil liberties, but also shows its capitalistic, and feed the factories with productive tax paying workers mentality, which were no doubt the main reason for the government sponsored smear campaign done under the guise of public service announcements for the public's own good along with long prison sentences to reinforce the message.
