Was this ever a good religion to be in?
by whatistruth inwhere sincerity, mercy, love predominated the witnesses at one time?
or has it always been like it is today, corrupt, hypocritical, abuse of power, unloving?
just curious if it started out with good intentions and then like anything else as time goes on and it becomes too big for unqualified people to handle it, it all goes bad..

Great comments!
One elder I knew (way back) was literally one of Hitler's guards (he was actually Danish by birth ((and a war criminal who got away with it)). This religion fitted his fascist mindset perfectly. What a cruel monster he was. His face would show real pleasure in making people feel small. He followed every order from the gb to the letter. Never did I see him use imagination or show tenderness or compassion. He lived to a ripe old age.....

G'day from Oz - My Story part II ;)
by Gemmel inhi all, (i posted most of this last night on the end of the other thread then realised no one knew it was there).
thanks for all the words of support and understanding, no one who hasn't been in a cult can really understand it.. i didn't mention names or locations in the story so that the jw lurkers couldn't find my familly who are still in the jw's but now speak to me.
which has only happened in the last few years.

A good read. I too have realised that I am a loner by nature (despite having a wide cross section of social friends) and now really enjoy my own space. Also the same with relationships fb's have been the order of the day for a number of years. Is this an Aussie thing? LOL!

I can only speak of what I know. Sharia law is not part of Indonesian Law. There were a few radicals who are attempting to force the gov via terrorism but they have recently been crushed and weeded out. All power to the peaceful

How refreshing to get an article with a positve outcome. I spend a lot of time in Indonesia, which is the largest Muslim country in the world. Yes, I have met bigots and religious fools but the vaste majority have been kind thoughtful balanced individuals who just want a contented life and friendly interaction.

Would the Japanese have used a nuke on the Allied nations if it had the chance?? Too right!
I have seen the thousands of graves of Allied soldiers (POWS) in SE Asia who were systematically murdered by the Japanese. One of my relatives had his legs hacked off at the knees with a samurai sword because he was tall and stood over the commanding officer.
No apology

Dead Birds And Fish
by EmptyInside indoes anyone have any idea why birds are literally dropping dead from the sky in four or five states.
and even in sweden, hundreds of birds are dead.
and fish are turning up dead too,not only in the states, but also brazil and new zealand.. they're trying to say new year's eve fireworks frightened the birds to death.

I wonder why an ornithologist wasn't asked to comment, as they would have a greater understanding of (unusual) bird behaviour. Certainly many birds die in migration. The same with fish.

The only time I have ever read the verb happifying was in a wt. I guess that is their trademark..We're kinda quirky, we don't stand for accepted norms, we're original, we're the only source of truth, so we're different from every body else.
At one point I thought that was cool but now I see it as a C...U...L...T!!

At first I thought that U Tube clip was made via an acid trip, then realised the voice over was real, as in the language used every Sunday in a hall. Great to hear that the accents were Australian.
Some kid in the 80's was a great observer of the absolute insanity of this religion..Esp the bit with the mother taking the child out and thrashing it for making a noise.
