I live in probably the wettest part of NSW, so hear rain on the roof regularly. I sleep on my deck too, so can smell the rain before it hits. The only negative was getting used to all the noisy birds predawn. Now I am used to it....

Rain on a Tin Roof
by Broken Promises init's currently raining bucketloads while i type this.
we've had a typical summer-time storm with thunder, rolling clouds, heat, then the cooling winds which come with the thunderstorm.. (a loud crack of thunder just exploded when i typed thunderstorm, yikes!).
i have a tin roof, which only amplifies the sound of the rain!

I actually tried one once and didn't tell my girlfriend. We had a mild argument over something trivial, so I never got to find out how they work!! LOL!! About the only thing I got was a stiff neck!! Absolutely true story....

"Need little blue pills. 40% of men need them after 40".....Is that strictly an American thing, or do I have good genes? LOL!

How I Know The Assembly Parts Are Made Up
by lovelylil inwe had a co looking for a certain experience for an assembly part coming up and the elders in my hall at the time sent him to see me, since i usually had good experiences out in field service.. anyway, after speaking with the co, i was sorry to inform him that i did not have an experience that suited the type he needed.
he told me that was o.k.
because he could use me anyway for another part.

I've posted this before but a district overseer was not impressed by an experience for the district convention. In frustration, he told us to polish it. Aussies would remember him, A Mason. Funny how his name popped up just now after all these yrs...

Belief in the Afterlife - where do you sit on the scale?
by jgnat ini am three-quarters through the book, the time paradox: the new psychology of time that will change your lifeby philip zimbardo and john boyd.
it is taking longer than usual because i am earnestly applying the exercises as they appear in the book.
which means i have to be ready to change my habits...but enough about me.. zimbardo's argument throughout the book is that a person's time perspective deeply impacts their choices and their ability to be happy.

Despite having an open mind as to supernatural experience and yes I have seen incredible sights that defy logic, I have no reason to believe that I have a special place in the universe that requires me to remain conscious on some level after death. But can I also say that my belief pattern is in flux, so is constant being refined and sometimes in the past rocked. What is definitive in a timeless shapeless state of opposites that is our universe?

Have you ever thought about, what is nothing? If you did, did it make your head hurt?
by miseryloveselders inas a born in jw, i've always believed that jehovah had no beginning per say.
at the same time i've had the house and watch having a creator argument stamped within my brain for use against evolutionists.
some days its difficult rationalising god's existance as having always been, with everything else needing to be created by him.

Interesting
Like Franklin Massey I looked into the Vedas. Aparrantly the wise men sat and asked each other "Who are you?" They peeled back the layers until they came to the conclusion that "I" am the silence between the thoughts....
Also Sleepingbeauty, I once took LSD and went into a black void with no stimulation, just my consciousness. Finally voices said to me "You can never leave." Terrifying, as I thought this must be life after death....Nah, just a subconscious Tartarus belief from when I was a jw and more importantly, just a drug trip, which in my opinion does not lead to any enlightenment, just distraction. My only drug of choice now is caffeine and a good ol' alcohol.

Thanks Zid
I learned to channel my love to my children and also into my career as a social worker. I do love animals and am surrounded by nature but will never have a dog as a pet again. It's just too painful to part. I could analyze myself and say he symbolised my mother( and her sudden death) but really, I am at peace with my decision and dogs and kids seem to search me out!! That's a good sign eh?
