I remember in the 80's the watchtower singing the praises of the Japanese work ethic, something along the lines of ants. All non thinking and obedient with massive growth among jws. Well they might have been right as this is the mindset of ants. Once something loses value it is destroyed and consumed. Anyone remember Soylent Green? I'm sure he would be keen to make old people into corn chips! Seriously my area of Australia is filling up with young Japanese wanting to escape the mad politics and polluted environment of Japan. A country in crisis.

Old People Should Hurry Up and Die - says the New Japanese Finance Minister
by fulltimestudent inthe newish japanese government is conservative in bent, and its finance minister recently raised eyebrows with the above statement.
japan, as you may know, is a rapidly aging society as the long falling birthrate bites into the demographics.. here's how the english guardian reports this tale:.
let elderly people 'hurry up and die', says japanese ministertaro aso says he would refuse end-of-life care and would 'feel bad' knowing treatment was paid for by government.

What was the best KISS you ever experienced?
by Terry inthe phone rang in the art gallery and i answered.. the voice was a young woman's.. one of her two parrots had died rather suddenly.. she wanted a colorful frame for the memorial portrait.
could we accomodate her?.
the remaining bird was sulking.. i suggested parrots without partners.. i don't where my tasteless jokes come from.

Eyes lock across the room. Must be three hundred people in this place but there was a timeless silence and only her.... and me. She is simply stunning. We smile and turn to do what ever...Later I go for coffee and I sense someone close behind, it's her. My heart hit my ribs and I knew hers did too. We introduce etc whith much laughing , her georgeous wide mouth curving and flashing eyes that displayed sharp intelligence and a deep sexuality. Then a guy sidles up and slips an arm around her.....
Fast forward a month of two and this woman turnd up as the new person at work. It's exactly the same. We get to know each other and yes her relationship is faultering. Me recently divorced and making up for 20yrs of lost jw time. I meet her boyfriend and he's a great guy and we all start hanging out occassionally. After a home dinner one night I am being seen to my car. Georgeous has had one or two drinks, me sober. Like some sort of inevitable dance we embrace and she puts that mouth on mine. It seems so natural. We fit together perfectly and for me it was a cosmic orgasm. Decision time and the right one was made....
13yrs later we are all truly close friends and they now have two lovely children. I can honestly say they are my best friends. We still have that electricity but it stimulates great closeness and her boyfriend now husband took a while to except the understanding between us but he now part of the gang.

How do apocolytpic cults start?
by EntirelyPossible ini was doing some reading on jonestown recently, which led me to some reading on the branch davidians and the heaven's gate folks.. it seems to me (and this is the part i want to discuss) doomsday or apocolyptic cults all share some common characteristics:.
- secret knowledge of am impending disaster.
- their survival if they follow the messages from a higher source that their leader receives.

In my opinion the main reason these cults form is because there are people out there who don't want to live in this world for what ever reason. It is this sense of doom, that life is too difficult and that a super parent is needed to take life's responsibilities away that is the fuel that a psychopath can mould into a mindless following.

Have you tried Buttercup Gold? Never tasted robusta so smooth but still with that major kick.

I start the day with a pot of tea, then move into coffee. I live next door to a roasting business (LOL) so fresh coffee in abundance. Local Australian, Columbian, Yemen but the finest I've tried is an original Arabica root stock discovered in Sumatra. The Dutch planted them 300 yrs ago and they were forgotten/lost. So smooth and little bitterness. Also some very nice Robustas, Queen of the Nile and Buttercup Gold from South India.
Oh yeah I have drunk Kopi Luwak numerous times and yes there is a major difference in flavour but not worht the US$50 the Japanese pay per cup!

Would Elders You Knew Have Ordered Stonings If They Could Have?
by Cold Steel infor those of you who used to be jws, or who are active, if the society was in charge of the earth, how many people do you think you would have seen stoned during your lifetimes?
i realize some elders can be zealous about their work, but if they'd actually had administrative authority to have kh members stoned to death, how many elders did you know who would have been zealous enough to really order them?.
did you know any elders who would have ordered stonings, even if the condemned people had been willing to repent?.

As I have mentioned in an unrelated thread I attended a congregation years ago where one of the elders was one of Hitler's elite guards during WW2. He was a Nazi through and through taking delight in overlording the people and going out of his way to create situations where he could throw his weight around. In my opinion his behaviour more than bordered on sexual. Too right he would have stoned people if given the chance and he would have done it with a gleam in his eye and a smile on his thin mouth. A war criminal who got away with it....

Yep quite a country Tibet (well China if you like). Also strange that it is so dry and arid! If it wasn't for the politics I would be there in a flash. Mt Kailash is the traditional home of Shiva a very powerful sacred Hindu spot.
