have you ever come across words that resonate with you?
it doesn't have to be a great gem of wisdom, just something that is meaningful to you.. please share, and if you want to, tell us why it's meaningful to you.. here is something that made me nod when i first read it.... .
"fortunate are those who have learned to see, in the wild things of nature, something to be loved, something to be wondered at, something to be reverenced, for they have found the key to a never-failing source of recreation and refreshment".

anyone recall (tried to locate/failed) a very interesting topic within past 6 mos about latest research determining hereditary patterns in individuals but more than the usual that had been determined thru mental/brain studies previously - or something?
sorry, i tried to locate but didn't find.. appreciate.
.
Ta LV101!
A quick google search brought this up but it's not the (direct) study that referred to twins and differing life outcomes e.e. one twin having depression and the other no illness but never the less a great read which leads to even more research...

There was a thread a few weeks ago about the latest research on twins and how they are (obviously) born with the same DNA but as they grew older and their life attitudes became different their genes changed!! The power of the mind. Well that's the assumption, further research required...

Now there deserves an Amen!
let's pause a moment and consider the actual history of the watchtower society.. until his death, pastor c.t.russell was the driving force behind the publication of the watchtower.
russell controlled it and made provisions in his will for what would happen to the watchtower in the event of his death.
russell's writings, theology, teachings, predictions and intentions were attractive to those who joined his bible students movement.. fred franz signed on as a baptised adherent of russellism in 1913 because he was strongly attracted and persuaded by russell's message.. franz knew russell for three years until the pastor's death in 1916.. franz was ambitious to become a presbyterian minister.
quote:
"Franz had been nominated as an outstanding student for a Rhodes Scholarship. Had Franz remained in college, this prestigious scholarship might well have been awarded to him. Yet, ambitious as he was, Franz's True Believer psychology drove him to warn as many people as he could in the colporteur (Pioneer) work that Armageddon was about to occur. (According to Russell's theology.)"
Could I offer another scenario? That Franz became terrified with the (emerging from higher studies) possiblity of there being no such thing as ultimate truth so fell back on what was safe and what fitted his egoic imaginations?
On another note, full respect Terry for getting behind the watchtowewr mask of Franz.
it's a well known phenomenon i've observed from jwn, my own cos. a new co we had once who was fresh from being a normal elder and after a couple of visits he said, "well i've finally become a true co...i now have food intolerances.".
i mean, only once did my husband and i ever have a co around for dinner and they couldn't eat this, he couldn't eat that, she couldn't eat this...it was so hard to cook something with none of the zillions of things they were 'allergic' to.. and then after all that the wife couldn't come anyway because she had a naturopath appointment or something.. why do all co's seem to have weird dietary problems?.
.
LOL! Good catch. I had the same experience wth them. Maybe deep(or not too) deep down, these people seriously don't want to have this unnatural life so psychosomatic illness kicks in. So many jws cannot attend meetings or preach due to "intolerances".
Actually intolerance is possibly the root cause.
no, i'm not misquoting peter talking to jesus again, or relating a conversation i had with a jw.. i'm asking something a little different.. i began my fade in jan this year and completed it at the memorial on 26th march.
since learning ttatt and becoming mentally free, my depression has improved, i see colours better, and my anxiety issues have dissolved.
i returned to teaching high school after years away from it, and am a substitute teacher at some local schools.
LOL! Let's see....Maybe a little wiser and more sure of yourself and your abilities and possibly in a completely different field of employment, something that inspires your passion.. How's that?

Guess where came to mind when I posted my comment? Lamington Plateau!! I actually wrote it then deleted it! Yeah in my long life and carreer I have had a fascination with the mind. Our greatest gift and our greatest curse. Our Western world is based on action, achievement and "you should have or should be" In fact many retired people (read men) fall in a heap when they stop working because they were too busy all their lives achieving without truly knowing themselves. You are very young and I am sure you will look back in five years time and laugh at what you thought was important now. In fact I predict you will be a completely different person. How's that!

My advice for what it's worth is possibly the opposite from most comments here. Rather than doing more stuff, I suggest stopping and taking stock. Yes it's reasonable to make plans but not when it is making you "scared" and anxious. Take a breath. You have turned your life around and so has your husband. A wise man once said (basically) "When trouble arises just sit." This was CG Jung who lived to a ripe old age. He suffered from quite severe mental health issues when he was young. Now from what you have said, you have a great handle on your depression and how to deal with it, it's just you are worried that the black dog may bite again. That's reasonable and actually understandable after such large changes in your life the last year. Love yourself a little. You are doing just fine without the jw superstition that god is protecting you. The monkey mind can cause us much grief e.g. I'm thirty I need a house, or I need a better job. They are great goals when we are feeling powerful and confident. Why not dust off the tent and go away camping with hubbie and refocus on what's really important in life?
