by Oroborus21 in.
but these on this site are hilarious - "let's scare them out of hell" seems to be their theme:.

Can DaVinci Code make Witnesses think?
by Lilycurly ini've just finished reading the book...and i know most of it is fiction, but some of you might have read it too.
as an ex-jw, it really made me think...the author has an excellent way to make one think outside the box without making it look like he wants to ram his ideas into your head...you know, it's kind of subtle, amongst all the action and enigmas.
my father loves to read...i really want him to read that book.

But it's an emotional book....and my father is easily moved by emotions...

Thanks Justsomedude! I`ll cling to that tiny hope. You never know! It's true, it might at first have no effect, but then he can rethink on a small point and it can trigger the researches...and from there, who knows where it can lead.

Exactly Brigid! I know there are many parts of the book that made me stop and wish with all my hearth that my father would read that. Especially when it talked about mythos, like you so well said.
I'm currently reading a book almost as big as the novel that details some of what is talked about in the DVC...very intersting read. It's like seeing things in a whole new light.

Good lord!!lol Hmmm...I thought it might lead him to that conclusion...but you know, when they talk of Mary M, what happened with the gnostic scriptures etc...it's bound to make anyone think, no?

Well, he saw the movie preview and the movie banners at the theatre...so he might be tempted. He does read Stephen King's novels, afterall. I think I'll just leave it lying around...the temptation might be to hard.

Oooh, I've never read an Ann Rice book, but that one seems nice. The Village did nothing for my father...so maybe I shouldn't waste my time. I mean, it was so obvious, and he never saw the similarities.

Anyone seen "The Island"
by onesong in.
it may have already been talked about here but i just saw it last night with some other "apostate" friends.. wasn't it amazing in it's similarity to the borg.. my favorite scene was everyone reading together "dick and jane" talk about a great watchtower study depiction!

Lilycurly
Hmmmm...you would've think movies like those would make a JW think...but unfortunately, my father saw both The Island and the Village, the allusions seem to slide right off his back. I guess it would need to be printed in bold black watchtower-like letters for them to see.

Ever meet someone in the field service who knew their bible better than you
by JH in.
once a brother told me that he knocked at a door, and it was a catholic priest who lived there, and that brother thought that he knew his bible better than that priest, so he showed him a couple of verses to prove that the jw's had the truth, but that brother didn't expect the priest to know his bible that well, and the brother didn't win his biblical debate.... wouldn't it be fun if more people knew their bible really well, and could use the bible to make the jw's go away... .
gee, i hated that when i knocked at a door, and the person would go get their bible, and i saw that they had a decent knowledge of it... usually i left quite fast.

Yes, once, but all we could say to each other when we walked away were idiotic things likes "Oooh, this guy really knows his Bible." "Oh yes, it's a shame, he would make an excellent JW...."
