How did you get out of sitting through the Convention?
by Confucious in.
someone else wrote a good thread about the naughtiest thing you've ever done at a convention.. ok... what did you do to "legally" get out of your chair?.
for me, it was easy, because i got to volunteer at some desk so i had 'permission' to be walking around in the hallways.

When my brothers where still babies, I would insist on being the one pushing them around in their strollers or just walking with them to the bathroom...very slowly. Both my mother, my sister and I wanted to do that.lol
But when they got old enough, the only way I could get out of my seat was mentally. Very rarely did my mind stayed put in one place.hihi

JW cult stunts psychological & moral development
by rebel8 inin reading the many jw apologist trollish posts on this forum, it keeps reminding me of the various theories of moral/psychological development & has made me realize how much the jw cult stunts such growth.
many different scientists have come up with stage theories of psychological/moral development.
starts at age 11 or 12

That has me really worried.
I grew up as a JW, and I KNOW I have some kind of problem with my social developpement....I had to work hard about it to grow up emotionaly and socialy.
And now my little brother has some problems in school, social but also psychological in a way. He has so much trouble with his school work, even thought he has a very high IQ, he doesn't seem motivated. He even had to see a shrink. I'd love to have some prove for my mother that my dad's indoctrination of this little boy is at least a bit responsible.
I mean, when a kid is brain-washed into thinking the world will end anytime soon, why make an effort...

For cat lovers: How to decide when to put the old sick cat down...
by nsrn ini have an almost 18 year old cat, a manx calico named spunky.
at birth, she was rejected by her mother and so my mom dropper fed this kitten until it was big enough to eat from a bowl, and then the cat moved in with us.
my daughter was about 3. she's always been my cat.

Also...you might want to have a look into Holistic cares for cats. I am now lucky enough to have found one lovely lady near where I live who does that. Their motto is prevention. I was so tired of vets, when my other kitties where sick, all they could do was a quick check up, shots, and the pills, more pills and antibiotics that costed hundreds or dollars in the end.
The holistic women does consultations for free, we can call her anytime, even when she's a home and it doesn't cost anything but the herbs and natural remedies and quality, specific food that we need. She has done miracles for a cat that we thought lost. (Vet's Opinion)

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I know how you feel....I have had to make that decision for one of my kitties, and whathever some will say, for us animal lovers, our babies are family, too.
But when it's time, it's time. We made the choice because we knew that if we didn't have the strenght to do it, then my poor baby would suffer more and more, and that scared me.
It was hard, so hard, but what helped me was to keep a little picture of him in a little circular frame on my desk. I'll never forget to sweetness that he was. And as bizarre as that might sound, I went and adopted a new kitten as soon as possible. Not to replace the one I had lost, but because I knew that I needed to fill the empty space. The fact that there would be no little furball to great me would make me cry even more. But having a new life to care for and to give you love is just what I needed.

A new "saying" that is driving me crazy! "MY BAD." I don't get it!
by whyizit ini've heard this on a couple of different tv shows and thought at first that it was a slip of the lips.
but as much as i've been hearing it, it must be a new "cool-thing-to-say".
does anyone know who, how, when, or why this has become a popular thing to say?.

Could the JW's be in "survival mode"?
by JH ini notice that they don't preach much door to door anymore.
i'm not the only one who notices this around here.. i was just wondering if they reached a point where they can't bring anyone to the org.
anymore, so all that counts for them is to keep going to their meetings and wait for armageddon.

It's true..it's been a long time since I saw them in the street. I know though that they do continue, because my dad goes out every week.
Maybe they have caught on a few tricks and actually preach whenever and wherever it seems like people are not...like I did.

Mostly middle-aged families with a few kids of different ages, a few middle-aged couples who had decided to wait for the new-system to have children. (And who seemed bitter about the ones who DID have kids.)
A group of elderly women, and one or two married sisters with an unbeleiving mate.
