Your words: Ditto for me. What I thought was deep Bible study, now looks shallow and uninviting. Not much to meditate on. No flexibility when it came to real conscience matters. At times I flip through the newer magazines and realize that it truly was mind controlling. It speaks to a very shallow group. Since then I have found an abundance of bIble scholars, scientists, historians, that give me something to really chew on.

What has the Watchtower reading material done to YOU?
by The Rebel inthe reason i ask is because i realise i couldn't go on reading watchtower material.
i have discovered it did something to my mind no other literature has done to me before.
it had turned me in to a person without a heart, or soul, and made me in humane and distant from other humans who didn't share the w.t world view.. i now feel ashamed of my childish behaviour, and i have learnt :-.

Ray Franz was above all else a respectful and empathic man. He did not attempt to convert people to his point of view but was cautious in his statements because he knew that most of his listeners had been through the mill with organized religion.

Read the book : Exiting the JW Cult by Bonnie Zieman. 30 years into the Watchtower and then became a psychologist. The book is up to date. Helps you through your feelings. Hope it works out for you. -

I have read a couple of your posts. While I'll be honest, I don't exactly like some of your language ( no offense) , I like your "critical thinking" that everyone on this site thinks they have mastered and have all the answers ( sort of like the GB). While I like sharing thoughts from time to time, this place can be laughable. Just because you can question things, doesn't mean you should question every piece of common sense. Anyway, keep it up.
