Sounds like a miscommunication in reference to the previous cancellation of the 'Book Study'. The 'Theocratic Ministry School' meeting is on the same night as the 'Service Meeting'. If that were cancelled, it would imply some kind of winding back of their 'preaching work', which seems unlikely. Either it's old news about the other meeting, or maybe particular families are just ditching the other meeting for their own 'family night'.

a change the society is going to make on Thursday night meetings, can someone confirm this for me?
by Truth and Justice inmy mother gets a call from a dear friend in the midwest.
and this friend begins to tell my mom that her kids who attend congregations in california were told that there "thursday night meeting" or the "theocratic ministry school" is being somewhat cancelled, and that it will be considered "family night".
this would start sometime in the next couple of months.. the reason for this change is to entice the younger generation, because there is a dramatic decrease in attendence at the meetings, and that this in some way would help them to have more interest.. what are your thoughts?

Do you think Oprah is going to accept Paula Deen's apology?
by booker-t ini was wondering if oprah will accept paula deen's apology.
the two women go way back and oprah has even stayed at paula's home for the weekend and paula has been a guest on oprah's tv show.
i wonder if oprah will cut all ties with paula or will she forgive and forget.

I guess sooner started the cow analogy.
I'm not sure the original suggestion was that women are cows, but rather that it alluded to some quality of the particular women being discussed, such as obesity.

I have no idea...but evidently the WTS thought women were cows. I don't like women being called cows.
They didn't actually say women are cows, but I agree that it's still a rather crude analogy.

blondie (quoting The Watchtower):
Then is the time when conception can take place if the ovum is met by a male life sperm.
There are cases where a girl became pregnant as a result of one sex interview with a boy.
Did people really talk like that in the '60s?? Or just JWs?

Who the hell is Paula Deen? (That's a rhetorical question. I really don't care.)
Love the cow allusions though.

Yesterday I said:
But the period from Ithobaal's accession until Cyrus is a better match.
However, Josephus' most likely intention is indeed as stated by AnnOMaly.

After Much Study, Can You Personally Figure Out The 1914 Dilemma??? (Daniel 7th Chapter)
by bjc2read inwe all know, any avid student of scripture in our time, can easily learn from their personal study of the holy writings, that jesus christ was clearly given the inestimable privilege to "sit upon god's throne," yes, being enthroned in the first century, and upon his resurrection where he was magnificently proclaimed a permanent "son of god," on an everlasting basis.
(see romans 1:4; revelation 3:12.
) this is an indisputable fact.

No, no, and no.
This is an indisputable fact.
Wrong.
Hardly anyone today would argue this point.
Wrong.

If Cyrus "took over the [Babylonian] kingdom in the fourteenth year of Hirom" then we should deduct 6 years from the 55 year total which brings us to 49 years. A very close match.
Maybe. But the period from Ithobaal's accession until Cyrus is a better match.

AnnOMaly (quoting Barlcay):
Latin suggests that this is the seventh year of the reign of Ithobalos
Indeed, this also corresponds with what I said above and also indicated in my chart where the first regnal year of Ithobaal is 591, and his accession year is 592 BCE, placing the siege in Ithobaal's seventh year (including his accession year).
Nice chart, J, btw.
Thanks. Because I already have a fairly detailed timeline for the period, it's relatively straightforward to produce other related charts.
