even the nazis never managed such a killing spree and they had machines to help make them more efficient.
Yay. Godwin's law strikes again.
i was talking with a jw i've known a long time and the topic of da new order came up.
she mentioned how nice it will be when all animals are at peace.
i asked why they had camouflage and defensive and offensive weapons if they were to always get along?

Then the king and all Israel with him offered sacrifices before the LORD. And Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered to the LORD, twenty-two thousand bulls and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep.
Yep. JWs (and a lot of other religious people) go into what I call 'storybook mode' when they read those kind of 'accounts'. Same with when they think about 'Armageddon'. They just gloss over it without thinking about what it would actually mean. It's kind of stupid really.
i've received a jw convention invitation in my mailbox.
are they doing this to everyone, or am i being targeted as a prospective 'interested person'??.
since when did they print invitations for conventions?
Julia Orwell:
I figured it was just something to get JWs busy and 'encourage' them to pioneer and boost hours. I always liked 'campaigns' because it was just "hi, here's your copy, goodbye..."
Indeed. This sort of thing is great for getting some easy time in for 'inactive' or 'irregular' JWs too. Which helps inflate JW 'growth' stats.

Phizzy:
They've done it for at least two years now, and they have a special campaign in the week or two before it starts, they are supposed, I think, to knock on your door, if you don't answer then stuff it in ther mail-box.
I wasn't at home. Maybe they knocked first. What a shame I missed them.
I guess I was just lucky last year.
Do they really imagine that people are going to make plans a couple of weeks beforehand to book accommodation and drive hundreds of kilometres to attend some 'convention' of a minor religious sect? Maybe it works a bit better if there's a convention locally.
I notice the quality of paper they use is getting cheaper as well.
And the theme is "God's Word Is Truth!", with just the "Truth" part on the front of the invitation followed by some inane leading questions. What a farce.
And inside it says "We warmly invite you..." Yeah... sure you do. Hypocrites.

There are no Watchtower publications that for example show or discuss the architecture of the temple of Solomon, because its obviously pagan.
Plus the fact that the dimensions compared to the alleged amounts of gold and silver are physically impossible.

even though this is an appendix to the main series, i thought id share this.
likely, it is not the most riveting video, but im hoping it can empower those interested in starting research into astronomical diaries like vat 4956. some might think its too complicated, but i believe such research is within everyones reach.
In 1972, Awake! dismissed "VAT 4956" (quotes theirs) as a "defective copy" with "numerous gaps", but in 2011 it supposedly became an accurate source for supporting their delusional chronology.
The fraudulent 2011 Watchtower article about VAT 4956 cites Mesopotamian Planetary Astronomy–Astrology (David Brown), in an attempt to claim that the positions of the planets in VAT 4956 are not reliable. However, Brown actually states that the Babylonians had specific names for the planets, and it is those planet names that appear on the tablet.
Your video is a great way to simply demonstrate the Watch Tower Society's dishonesty.

Cold Steel:
Sigh...Jerusalem was destroyed in 586.
HowTheBibleWasInvented:
One thing that I noted was the Babylonian exile IN 586!
Correct year for the destruction of Jerusalem is 587. (This is also correctly indicated in the quote Cold Steel provided.) The fall of Jerusalem is indicated in the Bible as both the 18th year of Nebuchadnezzar without counting his accession year (Jeremiah 52:29 * ), and his 19th year including his accession year (2 Kings 25:8; Jeremiah 52:12). His accession year was 605. It's basic arithmetic.
*Most of Jeremiah chapter 52 is a copy of 2 Kings chapter 25, but verses 28-30 are a later interpolation from Babylonian sources, hence they do not count accession years.
However, the main exile began in early 597 (Ezekiel 33:21; 40:1; Jeremiah 52:28-30).

Excellent work. It's unsurprising that in The Watchtower (15 November 2011), they dismissed out-of-hand the positions of the planets in VAT 4956. They claimed that the names of the planets are ambiguous in the text, which is a lie.
it would be nice if this little nougat of information could be more widely known - especially by journalists.. the quoted figures for scientology are taken from tony ortega's 2011 article in the village voice, which quotes former scientology pr executive jeff hawkins as saying.... "i know that event attendance internationally was somewhere in the region of 25,000 to 35,000. the international 'bodies in the shop' (people actually in the orgs that week for service) was 16,000 to 18,000. ias was struggling to get 40,000 members.
based on this and a lot of other information i was privy to, i estimate the actual number of scientologists at a maximum of 40,000. that's on the high side.".
portugal is one of 33 countries with more than 40,000 active jehovah's witnesses - demonstrating the gulf in size between the two faiths.. the following list shows all countries with more than 40,000 jws according to their reported peak publishers for 2013.. .
slimboyfat:
JWs frequently claim fewer members than other churches in comparison to those who self- identify as members when a census is conduced.
Because it inflates their growth rate. Round and round we go.
It's on that basis that the membership criteria are judged to be strict among JWs compared with other churches.
But you have no valid basis for comparison, because there is no mechanism for counting 'membership' of the other churches in the same manner as the JWs are counting. There may be as many or more, proportionally (obviously there are more in actual terms), of members of the 'other churches' who meet some equally arbitrary 'qualification' for 'actual' 'membership' of their own churches. 'Reporting time' in 'field service' is an entirely artificial benchmark for determining religiosity (or more accurately, it's an appeal to pride interfaced with a way to guilt people into placing Watch Tower literature). The JW 'strict criteria' method of counting serves no purpose for comparison with anything else. It is simply used to inflate growth. On other threads, you have said that JWs are growing faster than other religions, but their statistics provide no basis for a direct comparison.
