  i'm still determined not to vote - just to write something unpleasant about pollies on the ballot paper.

  if i lived in victoria, i just may, as an act of sheer bastardry, vote for julian assange (of wikileaks fame), but i don't live in vic, so i cant.. my objection to voting is that the political choice offers two self-perpetuating oligarchies (who are something like the governing body).

  That's quite possibly the stupidest thing that has been said on this thread (and you've had a lot of competition from mP). Firstly, there's no possible basis for knowing the intended vote of informal votes, nor do you know the number of informal votes. Secondly, you're weakening Abbott's margin for winning the election by claiming that a greater number of votes were intended for Labor. Thirdly, many who intended to vote for the LNP inadvertently voted for the Liberal Democrats.

  Your poor grammar not withstanding, it seems you're claiming that people with a lower IQ are politically motivated to categorically vote a certain way. That is just as arrogant as the drivel spouting from mP.

  Unintelligent and uninformed voters are across the political spectrum. However, they are more likely to be misled by biased media, which they are more likely to accept on face value.

  In this case, that means unintelligent voters were more likely to support Abbott.

  Their preferences are going to Pauline Hanson, so this misdirection will have an important affect on the outcome in the senate.

  There's a lot of redneck minor parties. As a result of their preferences, the senate gets disproportionately weighted toward the more mainstream right-wing parties.

  I don't like Tony Abbott, and I don't like his party's policies. I think Labor clearly has better policies in several areas.

  I'm not annoyed with the people who voted for the Coalition who believe the Coalition has better policies (though they're very likely wrong).

  Anyone who fell for the "financial emergency" or "boat people" rhetoric is an idiot. I'm disappointed with them, but it's their democratic right to be stupid. (I would prefer if the right to vote were IQ tested, or at least tested on the basis of understanding actual policy content.)

  I am very annoyed with the people whose vote was on the basis of all the misdirection - political favouritism, party in-fighting, rampantly biased media - none of which actually relates to which party has the best policies.

  Unfortunately, this is what happens when most people are more interested in Miley Cyrus and 'twerking' than what's happening in places like Afghanistan and Syria.

  Yes, it was a landslide victory for the LNP. Most of the people in my city still voted Labor though.

  There was a swing towards Labor in my electorate, but not quite enough to get it away from the LNP.

  when i was a kid,kingdom halls still had windows.thats a while ago..as a kid i was told in the last days,jehovah`s witness`s would be rounded up and be put into concentration camps..i was told,when the government came to take me away and seperate me from my parents,i should wear my warmest coat and boots.as i would have to fend for myself in the concentration camp..i was told never to give up my faith.even if they tied my parents to a stake and was foced to light the fire that would burn them alive.....jehovah`s witness`s are the "happiest people on earth!

  I have never seen a Kingdom Hall that does not have windows. This includes halls built after 2000. Though I do not doubt that in some areas, they may not have windows, it has nothing to do with JWs as a general rule, and most likely a lot to do with areas of high vandalism.
