  Jesus referenced the Jonah Story , so the Gospels say, but did he view it as Literal and full of facts ?

  Matthew 12:40 suggests that 'the sign of Jonah' supposedly meant Jesus would be dead "for three days and three nights", which contradicts the amount of time between Jesus' death and resurrection according to the 'gospels' (Luke 11:30 & 32 tries to 'rescue' this flaw by reframing 'the sign of Jonah' as something else). So there is indeed very little about either story that can be taken literally.

  Awake Magazine - No Longer Being Printed?

  someone made reference in another post that the awake magazine had ceased publication.

  maybe i missed it since i have not been on here as much in the last 6 months.

  is this true?

  Issue No. 3 of Awake! from 2020 is described as the "November/December 2020" issue, so it hasn't actually been a year. Issue No. 1 for 2021 would be the "March/April" issue (the public edition of The Watchtower being the "January/February" issue). So strictly speaking, it's only a few weeks late.

  It is possible that Awake! could be discontinued at some point (particularly if no one really cares that it's late), or merged with the public edition of The Watchtower, but at this stage, it is just late, as was announced in November 2020.

  Even Jesus, who supposedly helped create all the animals according to JW lore, did reference the Jonah story as a fact.

  Did he though? Every statement attributed to Jesus was written several decades after his death. It’s impossible to know anything that Jesus actually said.

  3. Awake magazine is no more....is this true?

  There have so far not been any 2021 issues of Awake!, though this is consistent with the November 2020 announcement that there would be delays. I am not aware of any official announcement that it has been discontinued. It is possible they are testing whether anyone actually cares, which could lead to them quietly discontinuing it, but it is too early to say.

  they are idiots, we have a real "gay-for-j" zealot right now who hasn't got the message that they are not wanted and no one is interested in their bible-fantasy gibberish.

  there's a certain irony that their own site is covered in "don't spam" rules but they think it's acceptable to do it to others.

  I Care a Lot (2020) One of the worst movies I think I've ever seen

  my wife and i were intrigued by the trailer, which looked like a humorous, over the top, dark comedy.. the story centers around the unscrupulousness of a female attorney named marla grayson (rosamund pike) who makes her living by preying on old people.

  grayson has her victims declared mentally incompetent, locks them away in a care facility she has bought off and then liquidates and pockets their assets as their court appointed guardian.. (spoilers ahead).

  ms. grayson humorously makes the mistake of singling out a seemingly helpless retiree name jennifer peterson (dianne wiest) as her next target.. grayson however, quickly discovers that peterson has millions of dollars in diamonds in a safe deposit box and far from being helpless is the mother of roman lunyov, (peter dinklage) a russian mafia figure who is not terribly happy with this turn of events.. up to this point, the movie was great.

  Not only does Marla magically wake up with all her faculties intact, she suddenly has the superhuman strength to knock the back window out of the car and escape without so much as a hangover.

  She was shot, but they did not show that she died.

  Yes, she died at the end. It's called dramatic irony. She (an anti-hero) 'defeats' the powerful big bad villain against all odds but gets her comeuppance from the 'little guy' (probably not an unintended metaphorical comparison to Dinklage's character) that she dismissed at the beginning of the film.

  Jeffro, I don’t know why you are contrarian. Lol...

  I'm actually not (irony intended). But a lot of threads on this forum are highly politicised, and anyone who doesn't agree 100% with the preferred narrative is automatically labelled as being the polar opposite with little regard to their actual position. You're a bit like Jesus at Matthew 12:30, but maybe a better example to follow would be that of Jesus at Mark 9:40. 😂
