For example, a couple of years ago a new method of interpreting prophecy was explained
No, it wasnât a ânew method of Bible studyâ as if they made some brilliant discovery. They just reduced their reliance on the practice introduced by Rutherford (borrowed from other Protestant groups) of âtypes and antitypesâ.
JW are not pretending or putting on a show, they are convinced.
Whether theyâre convinced or not, theyâre still wrong.

Who really is the Faithful and Discreet Slave?
by Godlyman inif anyone were to come up to you claiming that they are the faithful and discreet slave, how would you go about proving them to be false, based upon scripture?.

You wouldnât need to. They have the burden of proof. There is no evidence that the âfaithful slaveâ story is anything but a parable.

Kosenen:
How else would the scripture speak about captains and sailors looking at its destruction from a distance?
đ Compare Matthew 4:8.
Descriptions in Revelation are explicitly metaphorical but you insist a literal interpretation. But when a story in Matthew is presented as literal, it is freely accepted as metaphor (or a âvisionâ). đ¤Śââď¸ Unless youâre a flat earther as well. đ

why don't you just look at the arguments I present on my website.
Because youâre making up nonsense that you imagine makes Revelation relevant to the present era.

Fisherman:
It is not Rome because the great tribulation and Armageddon did not happen and neither did Rome suffer the same fate as BTG.
This kind of irrational thinking is why religions survive. âBelieversâ arenât really interested in the actual intent of the Bible authors. They are interested in what keeps the myth ârelevantâ. The obvious intended meaning failed (e.g. Rome wasnât destroyed as expected)? Fine, just replace it with an unverifiable assertion. A Bible âprophecyâ explicitly failed (e. g. Tyre will never be rebuilt or found)? Fine, just ignore the inconvenient verses altogether. Itâs really very tedious.

If that is the case, end of discussion.
It would be if the participants were rational.

No, thatâs called begging the question. The subject of this thread is the meaning of âBabylon the Greatâ in Revelation. Itâs Rome, irrespective of whether you think the Bible is magical.

Fisherman:
Rome did not suffer the fate of BTH therefore not Rome.
The fact that a superstitious belief did not eventuate is not evidence that it 'really' means 'something that will still happen in the future'. They were just wrong, and that's all.
