Fisherman:
That is what I conclude when I read. Even if I wasnât a JW ( which I am 100 percent ) I would believe that without doubt as I read the texts
So, when it says, âââBut when 70 years have been fulfilled, I will call to account the king of Babylon and that nation for their error,ââ your most reasonable interpretation âeven if you werenât a JWâ would be that 70 years ends two years after Babylonâs king is called to account. đ¤Śââď¸ What a farce.

âscholarâ:
How can you be definite that a definite or precise date such as 607 BCE is wrong when you cannot offer up any other precise alternative?
Argument from ignorance. Even if the exact year were not known it doesnât mean that whatever nonsense is offered instead must be correct.
But the exact year is known anyway. It was 587 BCE. No study of the subject in the last 60 years has offered any basis for 586 BCE as the correct year and various studies have specified 587 BCE as the correct year. The fact that some sources simply repeat Thieleâs dating from the 1940s (based on Ussherâs even earlier work) is irrelevant misdirection.

[The Bible] does [mention 70 years of exile].
Wow. Even more of an outright liar than âscholarâ.

đ¤Śââď¸ round and round we go
The Jews arrived in 538 BCE based on comparison of Ezra and Josephus. In any case thereâs no basis for the dogmatic claim that it was 537 BCE.
Attention to the Jewsâ return world explicitly be given after Babylonâs 70 years had been fulfilled.
Serving Babylon was explicitly the way to avoid exile.
The Bible never mentions 70 years of exile.

Vidqun:
Fisherman, I prefer Jesus' interpretation.
*The interpretation later attributed to Jesus.
Jesus warned: When one catches sight of the disgusting thing that causes desolation, âstanding in a holy place,â âstanding where it ought not,â then let those in Judea begin fleeing to the mountains
This interpretation, attributed to Jesus after Jerusalemâs destruction, is called an analogy.

How Will They End 1914 Teaching?
by EmptyInside ini'm sure this has been discussed, but 1914 has to go away.
instead of, the overlapping generation teaching, they should have just ditched 1914. .
they should have done that a long time ago with 1975. it's the last of the teachings in the charles taze russell era.. i'm thinking they just will stop talking about it, and it will be out of the mind of the rank and file loyal witnesses .

Fisherman:
Besides cut and paste, unlike TD, youâve never translated anything it seems.
So? JWs just parrot dogma without consulting so much as a concordance. I have a better understanding of and more honest approach to the concept than you. đ
