Good grief. Already covered here and here. Your interpretation of Jeremiah 29:10 is nonsensical. Like the JW position, your interpretation of Jeremiah 29:10-14 requires that people who were already in exile were told about a period of 70 years that hadn’t started yet, and that attention was given to the Jews’ return only after they were already there, which is clearly absurd

VAT4956 - 530 BC destruction of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar
by jwposter inin my studies, i have concluded that year 530 bc was when the destruction of jerusalem occurred and the temple destroyed.
i had determined this prior to investigation of vat4956.
i had already found that the jubilees, sabbaticals, courses of the priests, and chronology attested to this.

It’s also worth pointing out that the Septuagint version of Ezekiel doesn’t mention 390 days. Instead, it refers to a total duration of 190 days in verses 5 and 9, comprising separate periods of 150 days for Israel (verse 4) and 40 days for Judah (verse 6). The ‘150 days for Israel’ in the Septuagint likely refers to the period from the exile of Israelites by Tiglath-Pileser III in 732 BCE until the exile in 582 BCE alluded to at Jeremiah 52:30.
The reference to ‘390 days’ was most likely introduced to the original text because there was never a notable return from Assyrian exile of the northern kingdom so it was edited to instead focus on the descendants of Israelites who avoided Assyrian exile and fled to Judah in the 8th century BCE, whose descendants were later exiled to Babylon with the Jews.
Ezekiel 37:16 identifies those Israelites among the people of Judah at the time of the exile, distinguishing between ‘Judah and the people of Israel who are with him’ from ‘Joseph and the house of Israel who are with him’. -

Deferring to your preferred Protestant commentary (Gill died in 1771 and his chronology is not the consensus of scholars at all) is quite irrelevant, especially when it erroneously misconstrues the days for ‘Israel’s guilt’ with reigns of the house of Judah. (This is also cherry picking because Gill does not support jwposter’s bizarre revision of the entire neo-Babylonian period.)
Additionally, the Bible never once mentions ‘70 years of exile’, and it instead explicitly identifies Babylon’s 70 years as a period that ends when Babylon is called to account, not the subsequent return from exile.
jwposter:
Ezekiel's "alluding" to 390 years
The use of quotes around ‘alluding’ suggests he thinks he has a point. Back in reality, Ezekiel chapter 4 only actually states a period of “390 days”, which indeed alludes to a period of 390 years.

Who really is the Faithful and Discreet Slave? The recent changes and the Governing Body's 10 year plan
by redsetter2 ini am sure we were all shocked at the governing body update #2 with the unusual and impulsive changes set forth.. i am an insider at whq, and when i was on reddit and in communication with avoidjw i explained to the best of my ability that the approach on disfellowshipping was going to change based on the new light at the 2023 agm, that the jubilee rumor was false, and there were going to be changes on how jws approached disfellowshipping in response to the norway situation if it didn't turn out in watchtower's favor.
the decision came because of a legal blow to watchtower, not because "holy spirit" wad directing a faithful slave, who is going to become the "evil slave", more explanation on this soon.. everything i stated came true.
i left reddit exjw community due to the immature and mentally unstable nature there, and yet as has been the case my words came true.

Rattigan350:
I don't care about how to treat DFd ones because that was Paul's instructions to the Corinthians and I don't follow what Paul said.
So I ask, why do you all care when I don't?
Why do you imagine that some random person who doesn’t accept all JW teachings (or even a substantial amount of Christian teaching) anyway should be the benchmark for caring about things related to JWs?

🤦♂️ I thought you wouldn’t be “back here for awhile”. I knew it was wishful thinking.
My assessment of the chronology has no such errors. And someone who gets definitions of ‘in front’ and ‘behind’ wrong probably shouldn’t be giving advice on timelines.
jwposter:
Now we know that the House of Judah reigned for 390 years until its destruction by Nebuchadnezzar in his 19th year as King of Babylon.
No, we don’t ‘know’ that at all. ‘390 years’ is only alluded to in Ezekiel in reference to ‘the sin of the house of Israel’, explicitly distinguished from ‘40 days for the house of Judah’. It has absolutely no bearing on reigns of Judah up until Jerusalem’s destruction. In the timeline I provided, the 390 years very neatly begins with the division of the kingdom in 929 BCE and ends with the capture of Babylon in 539 BCE. That action appropriately marks the end of ‘Israel’s guilt’ and coincides with the end of Babylons 70 years, after which they would repent, and then attention would be given to their return (Jeremiah 29:10-14).
Aside from that significant error in your claims, your little ‘back of an envelope’ calculations don’t trump what is plainly indicated in the timeline I provided. Your errors partly stem from your failure to recognise Tishri dating for kings of Judah and the previously unified kingdom, and partly because of your obviously false assertion about the application of the ‘390 years’.
Just go away.

Acts 19:2
Maybe the JW study Bible offers some brilliant pearls of wisdom about this ‘seeming discrepancy’ that there were disciples of John the Baptist who had supposedly never heard that ‘God’s active force’ was a thing… just kidding, they completely ignore the verse altogether. -

The fact that it is actually significant that women are being told they're 'allowed' to wear slacks instead of a dress should be enough to tell people it's a high-control group.

New light on shunning?
by Mikejw inone theory why tony was booted out was because he was a stickler for not changing the shunning doctrine.
he actually said the words we will never ever change it.. they are slowly deleting all of tony’s videos and now losing court cases and losing government hand outs in places like norway.. it’s looking very likely they will release new light on shunning policy after losing this latest one in norway.. .
what are the odds they coincidentally get new light from jehovah and lighten up their shunning policy ?.

This is obviously driven by the Norway court decision, especially the aspects about minors. But it's just more emotional manipulation to give 'POMI' individuals the absolute minimum of attention on the condition that they show interest in 'returning'. But those who are 'POMO' (i.e. 'apostates') are deemed too much of a threat to even greet. Pathetic.

It is funny that ‘the one true religion’ has:
- a god from a Canaanite pantheon
- an exodus myth from ancient Ethiopians
- cherubs from Assyrian mythology
- creation and flood myths from Babylon
- a devil from Persian mythology
- beliefs in an afterlife and the ‘Word’ from Greek Gnosticism
Not to mention a whole catalogue of misinterpretations of their own books for their end times beliefs.

Early Christians were making this stuff up as they went along, largely based on merging Greek concepts into Judaism. It’s much simpler if people stop pretending the Bible is consistent on the matter.
