  i just thought, well she's dreaming.

  Oh, please. Your judgmental comments could be construed as nothing more than insults.

  Dismissive, maybe. Judgmental, no. Because I don't believe in something that you feel is real, you call me closed-minded. Yet many many others would call you closed-minded for your statement that it is "dubious that the Christian god exists".

  I'm simply stating a few deeply personal experiences in my life while you condemn them as trivial.

  As you attributed no special signficance to the events that you described in your dreams, there was no reason to view them as anything but trivial. If I didn't read between the lines correctly I apologize for upsetting you.
  
  My last post in this thread illustrated the fact that it is unrealistic to simultaneously believe in all aspects of paranormal or supernatural phenomena, and for that reason was intentionally condescending in nature. The point is, one cannot be expected to accept something as possible where there is no evidence to support it simply because someone else believes it, especially since some forms of paranormal belief are mutually exclusive.

  If I understand the original UN debacle correctly, the problem wasn't because they were/are an NGO, but what they had to do to apply for association with DPI, which requires that they accept the charter and principles of the UN. And after the article in the Guardian came out, they only disassociated themselves from the DPI.

  Being an NGO was what required acceptance of the UN charter. 'Association with the DPI' and 'NGO status' in this context are synonymous. It is important to have the facts when making claims of a scandal.

  hello all, i've been reading your site for a couple of years now, and have found, for the most part, it to be very helpful.

  i must say, at first i was very "scared" at what i might find, but contrary to what i grew up learning, there is a "wealth" of information outside of the watchtower organization.

  i haven't attended meetings for about two years now, and like many i've read about, have spent many hours researching, telling myself "i'm not wrong for searching", and doing more research.

  You did not provide answers to the questions I asked. Of course you are not obligated to, but it would be in the interests of your argument to do so.
  
  Daniel's account in chapter 5 is very clear that it is the calling to account of the king.
  "ME'NE - God has numbered the days of your kingdom and has finished it" - ergo 70 years are up.
  "TE´KEL - you have been weighed in the balances and have been found deficient" - ergo called to account
  "PE´RES - your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and the Persians"
  
  Daniel didn't say "God has numbered your days and will finish them in another 2 years". The king was 'called to account' (Jeremiah 25:12) on that night. It is really quite clear that the 70 years ended at that point. The king was killed that night and Babylon fell, marking 70 years of dominance for the Babylonian empire.

  It seems that people here are getting a little over-excited.
  
  The article refers to the Georgian government recognizing Jehovah's Witnesses as an NGO (non-government organization). The UN does not have a monopoly on this acronym. The article says nothing about Jehovah's Witnesses being an NGO in connection with the United Nations, and is unrelated to the 1992-2001 scandal. It simply indicates that the Georgian government has allowed them to be registered as a recognized organisation.

  Earthquake statistics?

  has there ever been any so-called evidence brought forth by the wtbs that there has been an increase in earthquakes since 1914??

  very nice!! I liked the part about how, going by the Society's progressive counts of earthquake fatalities, it wouldn't be long before they say that no-one ever died in an earthquake prior to 1914.

  skyman, that study does sound interesting.
  
  Generally speaking, people would be more apprehensive about being confronted by an unpleasant scene and therefore it is likely that most of the pre-empted responses would be to indicate that they fear that an unpleasant scene awaits them. It is similar to someone feeling a spike of fear just before they turn on a lightswitch expecting to see something they're afraid of.
  
  Did the study reveal whether there were many incorrectly expected unpleasant scenes?

  With greater population densities, better media coverage, and better equipment for detecting and recording earthquakes, it seems likely that yes, we will hear of more earthquakes in these 'last days'. More reports of earthquakes doesn't necessarily mean more earthquakes.

  I won't go into any more details since your mind doesn't seem very open

  Your veiled insult is noted and appropriately ignored.

  There's nothing wrong with being skeptical, but we should at least be open to the possibility that the world may not exist in black and white.

  Having an open mind does not mean accepting everything in credulity. Perhaps while astral travelling I will encounter some time-travelling aliens abducting people with shimmering auras who saw this in their tea leaves. Then maybe I'll drift among some lost souls waiting to be reincarnated as gnats.
  
  Without any proof for any of such things, why should I believe one over the other? Therefore must I believe all of them to be credited with an open mind? Ludicrous.

  Guns: Opinions?

  my mom isnt a big fan of guns, but after being mugged once, she appreciates the value of a well placed firearm.

  she doesn't mind that i hunt and go to the shooting range regularly with my father.

  about 6 months ago, i was out in field service with my mother and an elder's 2 daughters.
