jwleaks, something is wrong with your search if you’re not getting anything with 1914 in the last 5 years. E. g., Watchtower Public Edition 2020 No. 2 pp. 8-10, found on current online watchtower library.

How Often is 1914 Openly Spoken of at the Meetings?
by Number 6 inas someone who left in 1991 aged 21, one of my overriding memories of growing up in the watchtower was being able to "prove" the end times by referencing 1914.. major change in 95 then again after that.
if i'm being honest i could not even tell you now what the current teaching is.. for those who still attend the meetings, is it still openly spoken about?
i genuinely curious as i wonder if the teaching will be altogher dropped eventually, and one of the easiest ways to achieve that is to stop speaking about it.

They can’t maintain their beliefs about 1919 without retaining 1914 so they’re a bit stuck. It really is pathetic.
But they likely rarely mention it, and they are much less likely to mention October 1914 because the war has already started and something was supposed to happen suddenly in or after October (and Russell didn’t say anything at all about ‘Satan being thrown to earth’ because he believed the ‘dragon’ referred to pagan nations.)
Apart from the vague notion about the ‘end of the gentle times’ (an Adventist teaching), nothing that Jehovah’s Witnesses now believe about 1914 was taught by C T Russell or even when they were supposedly ‘selected’ in 1919.

New JW article - Help children deal with disturbing news reports
by Listener inthe watchtower has the audacity to think it is some authority on the matter of telling parents how to deal with news reports that may disturb them, when for decades it has been promoting a horrific destruction of 99% of people currently living on earth, including detailed pictures in their own 'news reports'.. why would people print disturbing news reports?
one reason that they provide specifically relates to themselves as well.
children may have trouble putting the news in perspective.

joe134cdSlim I think the mags are compiled some months in advance before they are produced
JW members receive the magazines a few months before the stated issue date, and the articles are compiled a few months before that. So as far as reporting current events, it isn't really the well-oiled machine of efficiency they would have everyone believe. In addition to that, the Watch Tower Society in recent decades seems to have deliberately avoided making statements about immediately current events, instead waiting to see how they can spin them. -

According to The Finished Mystery (aka Studies in the Scriptures, volume VII) the 'locusts' were Methodists, starting with John Wesley in 1728. Of course, there's no mention of that in any modern Watch Tower Society literature at all.

How do JWs view the Ransom?
by Vanderhoven7 inlooking for a simple explanation of the ransom from a jws perspective..
-
Jeffro
Jehovah's Witnesses view the 'ransom' as essential and also demonic.
The Watchtower, 15 November 2014, page 12:
The only way any of us can have peace with God is to have faith in Jesus’ ransom sacrifice and appreciate that blood has special meaning to our Creator.
The Watchtower, 1 April 2007, page 19:
Human sacrifice in any form is demonic, and true worshippers of God stay away from anything that is connected with such a practice.

Was It Designed? (My head hurts)
by Cadellin ini know i shouldn't--i tell myself this over and over--but i can't help peeking at these silly articles.
and then i see this and my head really starts hurting: so the gannet, if you don't know (and why would you?
) is a seabird that feeds on fish.

For every individual species that JWs claim has some remarkably 'designed' feature or behaviour, they increase the required population of the 'ark'. This is particularly evident when they argue that some very specific species has a unique feature necessitating that each species is not merely part of a poorly defined 'kind'. (For example, see Awake! No. 1, 2017, p. 16.)

Ha ha... See my comment from four months ago... https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5738470961053696/oz-starting-shut-down#5659416618598400
Seems he may be 'running ahead' though.

When did WT lose the spirit?
by Smiles inat what time would you say that the watch tower schema lost the spirit?.
like the ancient nation of israel which struggled maintaining divine blessing due to a long series of grave errors that eventually culminated in definitive loss... how and when did watch tower lose the spirit?.
can we pinpoint a time or event?.
-
Jeffro
Smiles:
Please do not reply with 'JWs never had the spirit'
Why on earth not? Your fallacy: begging the question.
