I had a similar experience in the early 1980s, when I took a tour of the factories. I was lucky in that I was the only person there asking for a tour, and it was pretty obvious that I wasn't a JW. They scared up a nice girl named Wendy to take me around, since the regular tour guides weren't available.
It was great! Since she wasn't usually a tour guide and didn't have the spiel memorized, she let the factory workers give me the tour by answering questions about their work. I talked to a typesetter (He was typesetting the "Bible Stories" book in Greek -- he told me not to tell anyone, since it was supposed to be announced later on! He was gorgeous, too ... sigh), an ink and paint maker, a cabinet maker, and various other folks. Wendy was simply lovely. She was working in the then-new computer section. I often wonder where she is now.

Yes, but which one? I had the "Watchtower Collectors' Corner," which I can no longer keep up with because of family and business matters. I've gone into the used/antiquarian book business, which is the other website that turns up on Google: Old Lighthouse Books. Collecting the JW literature got me interested in book collecting in general. I specialize in religion, but I've got other topics covered as well.
I sent you a PM on the fact that this change happened in 2000 about the same time several more WTS corporations were formed ostensibly to make it harder to sue. I was thinking too of days long ago, when the CO said that JWs were not publishers of books, that the WTS did that, that JWs were publishers of the good news. Evidently, they no longer think that way. It was strange the first time I saw that in a WT article, attriibuting a publication or a quote "published by Jehovah’s Witnesses." So starting in 2000 till now, you will not find "published by the WTS" in an article.
That's the part that amuses me. I wonder how long it will be before they change the wording on the copyright page to match the usage in the magazines? It would seem to be the next necessary step in building the fence against lawsuits.

On three separate occasions within the past ten years I have had Witnesses tell me that they would do research on a point I brought up and come back to discuss it. They never did. Does that count?
One occurrence -- they might have forgotten. We all get busy and forget things. But three times?

Here in the Homeland of Barbecue (North Carolina, USA), I am my household's Mistress of Barbecue.
A nice Boston pork butt, smoked for 8 hours with hickory until it falls off the bone ... Served with the vinegar-pepper nectar that is East Carolina barbecue sauce ... Heaven! I'm not parochial, though -- I will tolerate tomato-based bbq sauces.
Chicken, steak, hamburger ... Mesquite, hickory ... Yum!
My husband is the one who prepares the side dishes. He hates having to deal with the grill.

From 1943 the book The Truth Shall Make You Free was used in new studies. Barbara Grizzuti Harrison mentions it in Visions of Glory: A History and a Memory of Jehovah's Witnesses.
