  ex elders did your concience ever bother you?

  when you had to disfellowship people did it upset you , did you ever feel hypocritical and too judgemental?

  did you question things yourself even as an elder?

  what was your view on the child abuse policy ?

  I am sad to say that in the begining I thought that I was very important. As a young man having become an elder at 23 years old it really was an ego trip. After a few years and settling in I began to feel that it was very important to be an elder so that I could help erring and lost ones. As the years went by I started to see the problems in the org but still felt that I was needed to act as a buffer for those that could not stand up to the elders and the org and needed someone that they could trust and rely on. I tried my very best to be a good elder and to this day have many that when I see them tell me how much they appreciated me. I say this not for glory but because it makes me feel good to know that I may have been of help to some. Yes I do have regrets about some that were disfellowshipped by a JD I was on, but the majority I beleived at the time should have been disfellowshipped.(I am very tired tonight so my spelling may be off please excuse it.) After some 30 years I had enough and resigned, my conscience would no longer allow me to serve as an elder. I have come to the realization that there is no way is it Gods organization but only man made and subject to the whims of men. What is the truth? I am not sure now but I continue to searching and definately beleive that all organised religion is of man. Sincerely

  To those still "active", what makes you keep going to meetings?

  i've been reading a lot of posts and a lot of you here on the board, are "active" members, attend all meetings and conventions, go out in field service, even help with quick builds.

  i don't want this to sound like i am disrespecting anybody, but what makes you lead a double life?

  doesn't anybody at the hall notice your lack of interest?

  Wife and family still in, do not want to start over at this late date in life. I beleive it is all wrong but can not lose it all. It stinks but it is the way it has to be for now.

  just wondering what criticisms of the jw organisation you allow yourselves to ponder?

  we all know that we were taught that the organisation is not perfect, but most jw's i know refuse to acknowledge any criticism of any kind.

If you do enjoy challenges as you say, Salivating, then could you please reply to the question I asked all lurkers on my thread questioning why you feel the governing body has not informed you witnesses of the child molestation lawsuit settlements with witness abuse victims who were forced into silence by a gag order by the GB? Do you allow this kind of questioning and criticism ? Will these abuse settlements be discussed at an upcoming service meeting? Or do you know ? Please reply here or I will bump up my thread for you to reply on. Or have your elders informed you of this molestation crisis within the organization ? Please inform, peace out, Mr. Flipper Mr Flipper It is my beleif that they are too arrogant to tell the congregations. They think that they are above the law as can be seen in the info Barbara Anderson has compiled. They have done things like this many times (Mexico / Malawi ) for one. I was appalled to see that they put out a gag order for payment. I totally allow the critism and and questioning and have consistently raised it with family on this issue. I seriously doubt that it will be discussed at meetings unless they are forced to do so by exposure and then they will say that they were somehow falsely accused (SPIN). Most elders know nothing of such information they are lemmings and can not think for themselves although they think they are open minded. My pleasure. PM if you want to discuss further.

  There was a time that for many years I was in total agreement with everything that the Watchtower had to say. But in the last few years I have come to doubt a large percentage of their teachings. IE 587/607 and thus the F&D slave. The elder arrangment, having been one for well over thirty years. I have seen too much hypocracy , outright deceit and lies. The child abuse issue, I could tell you much about this having sat on several cases. But to do so will expose me and I can not afford to loose my family right now. All in all there is just too much wrong to beleive and accept anything that they say!

  Do elders take vows, and what are they?

  more specifically, do they have to repent of past wrongdoings, and do they have to make amends to those they harmed in the past?

  Speaking as an ex elder there are no vows taken. The only vow is that, everyone takes on baptism. Although some are bigger jerks than others and tend to stick closer to the rules. As for myself when I was younger I was more rigid. When I got older I slacked off and had more compassion for individuals. Now since resigning I have a much more relaxed view of things and absolutely no stress. I can not see now how I ever wanted to be an elder in the first place. I pray that I will be forgiven for some of my treatment of people when I was younger many times a hard A. Anyway that's my two cents.

  Any Diabetics here...

  i've been on the pills (actos 45mg metformin 1000mg 2x daily) for a couple of years now.

  can't get my a1c below 7. my doctor finally convinced my insurance company to give me byetta.

  started it yesterday and i can not believe how low my sugars have fallen.

  Type two here. I started Byetta was sick also but it did nothing for me. I take Lantus insulin and Humalog.

  Ever hear an experience at an assembly that you KNOW was slanted?

  i remember one at a district assembly.

  a brother was being interviewed as to why he never chose over time work at his job.

  he said he worked for a small printing company and that he was content with working regular hours.

  In the 1970s a family attended the DC in a far away city, they had a bus that broke down. Many helped fix it at the convention. They told the story that their home had just burned down the night before but they left for the DC anyway trusting in Jehovah. It was printed in the WT in a study article as what a great example of trust in Jehovah. The fact is It was not true that house had burned down quite awhile before they even thought of leaving. And they were not spiritual giants. But the story made for good reading and allowed RF to beleive what a God Jehovah is and he protects his people. Total lie in the Watchtower.

  Ministry School ?

  do you think the ministry school helped you in your secular life?

  that is, in business or sales, or in communication with customers or suppliers?.

  of course the society was trying to make a good salesman out of me for their agenda but i had to 'quit' their job.. outaservice .

  I must tell you that I think it did. However years later I was requested to take a Dale Carnagie course. I do not know who copied from whom but in many many ways they are identical. I wish I had skipped it all and just taken Dale Carnagie. But Blondie is right there are many bad speakers in the society and they will never get too much better. I think that you need some smarts to begin with. What is the saying " you cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear"
