I went on a study with another brother years ago and we were discussing Jesus ransom being what was necessary to counter Adam's sin. When he asked the guy we were studying with if it was clear to him the guy said, "It's not the same... Jesus didn't have a wife."
The brother who's study it was laughed, thinking he was joking (the brother was single), but that really made an impression on me. I was still single at the time, but it made alot of sense. Jesus did not have the same temptations and circumstances as Adam.
That thought never left me and your post makes alot of sense in the same way.

I really tried to but I couldn't get through it. My mind drifted and I had no idea what I was reading.
But I would always read the articles I was trying to use to place the mags. I was always afraid a question about the article would come up and I wouldn't know the answer. -

When I was a kid my father was pretty much always the B.S. conductor. There was a kid about 4 or so and he would raise his hand to every question, just copying what others were doing. Once my dad called on him to "teach him a lesson" and it embarrassed him and his mother. I thought it was a pretty cruel thing to do, but my father always thought he had the right to "help" other parents raise their kids.
A few years ago when I lived in KY the conductor would go around the room having us read scriptures, like others have described. There was one brother who could barely read and my daughter said way too loud, "Man, I can read way better than him!" That was kind of embarrassing. I felt bad for the poor brother, he was really trying.
I remember my very first answer I figured out on my own, "607 B.C.E.". It had to be right, it said it right there in the paragraph! -

I've done that in the past and it was ok. But I'm usually ready to get back to work after two days off, by the third day work is all I can think about anyway.
Once (in 2002), I went in on Monday morning at 8:00 and we were working to finish building a machine to deliver on Thursday. We had some problems with some parts and had to remake them (it was a custom machine) and the three of us ended up working straight through from Monday morning to Thursday morning. Never went home, picked up food a few times, no sleep at all, but we got it done at 9:30 Thursday morning.
Then two of us had to run home and shower and come back to pick up the machine and drive it to Indiana (just a 30 minute trip), install it and train the customer how to use it. When we finally left the customer around 2:00pm we were so wired that we got it done we had to go to a bar and have a few drinks to wind down.
I slept really well Thursday night. -

The one person I enjoyed talking to was the PO's wife. She had an actual career and supported him (he didn't work). We would discuss business and just chat about people we worked with and stuff like that.
She was the only person I could really hold a conversation with at the KH and in service. Once her husband saw I was in their group for service and said "I guess I have a bunch of conversation about IPO's to listen to today." He was being sarcastic but at least we had something to talk about.
Most people in the hall didn't like her and considered her "weak", but I thought she was a very nice person and I felt sorry for her. -

I wish I could tell my exwife to go jump off a f***ing bridge. But instead I just give her money when she needs it because I'm afraid she'll get pissed off and seek revenge by taking our daughter (who lives with me).

---"thom: I believe there is a real double standard if you're attempting to get re-instated. If thats your intent, elders would likely be more inclined to look the other way."---
ackack, you're probably right about that. Someone who doesn't intend to return would probably seem much more "evil" and "dangerous" in their eyes.
Hopefully work can be kept professional in your case. Some JW's can actually accomplish that. -

Snowbird 101:
1. Drive as slow as possible, and almost stop at each intersection just in case it's the one you need.
2. Swing a little into the next lane when you finally do turn. (Just to scare people in little cars like me)
3. Park at an angle so as to make it difficult for others to park.
4. Say to people, "It's not hot here. I don't know why people say it's so hot", when you leave before the summer starts.
5. Dump lots of money into the local economy. (Thanks :)
(Sorry, don't know about accomodations in Florida, but I do hope you find a nice place and enjoy it) -

Mostly what Frannie said.
Also opened my mind to doubts I had for a long time. I allowed myself to look into them and I found that I had no basis to believe some of the things I was taught as a JW. It took a long time to admit that to myself. -

A few years ago my business partner was df'd and we had an elder from a different hall working for us. They both kept it professional and work didn't seem to suffer at all. Surprisingly to me, the elder looked the other way at he and I taking lunch now and then and talking more than just business.
Sadly, he's was reinstated about 6 months ago.
