vitty, I think it means you're using a dialup modem :)
No sarcasm intended, your speeds indicate you're using a 33.6 or 56k modem.

Why are there so many "Should Gay's Marry" ads?
by Elsewhere in.
recently i've noticed that about 90% of the large ads are asking the question: "should gays marry?".
any particular reason?

That's about the only ad I've been seeing on here for maybe a week now. It's on every page, more than once per page.

How many of you shunned others when you were a JW?

When my mother was df'd (when I was 18) I shunned her because of what I felt she did to the family, but she always thought it that it was because she was df'd. She was sleeping around, doing drugs, lying. It was for those reasons I shunned her.
A friend and business associate was df'd about 2 years ago and I never shunned him. Now that he's reinstated and I'm fading, he hasn't changed how he associates with me, although his wife puts alot of pressure on him to "turn me in" to the elders as he knows my current lifestyle (dating a non-jw, sharing a hotel room with her). I hope he continues even if I do get df'd.
I've run into several df'd people over the years, but I always interacted with them the same as I would if they were not df'd (Hi, how are you? Stuff like that).
So no, I guess I really never have shunned anyone for being df'd.
I have shunned jw's since I left. I tend to just ignore them when I see them in a store. They seem just as happy to ignore me. -

Michelle5480 makes a good point:
"you'll resent your dad always for making you lose your boyfriend. You already know what life is like in the organization but you'll always look back to now and ask yourself how would life had been if you had left when you had the chance."
Though your parents may be pleased if you return to the org, how will you feel? Do you think the resentment of them taking your life away will affect your relationship with them?
They want you back in the org and everything to be back the way it was, but it won't be the way it was. If you're unhappy to lose your boyfriend and your life that you choose, would you really be able to have a good relationship with those who did that to you? I would think you'd develop anger toward them and you would no longer appreciate a relationship with them. But if you live your life the way you want to and they gradually come to accept it, you may recover your good relationship with them and maintain it.
If they choose to shun you for good, would that be worse than a relationship with them where you resent them? -

Whenever I've tried, I realize that my brain is much more clever than I am (or something like that). Propaganda is right. -

Question about internet providers
by Insomniac ini'm back online for now, although my living arrangements are still sort of up in the air.
just in case anyone was wondering about my sudden absence.... anyhow, i'm trying to find an isp for my bf, who frequently travels for his job.
he needs one he can use in the us and in other countries he's in, such as japan, australia, and spain.

Years ago I used Compuserve. But now that they're AOL so they're useless.
I switched to Earthlink for traveling. In the U.S. I can usually find a local dialup number, or I use the 800 number. Outside the U.S. Earthlink provides access to many ISP's. I've dialed up in Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, Japan and Taiwan without any trouble.
Using the 800 number and International access costs a bit extra, but it really wasn't all that expensive. -

The March of Gay Rights
by truthseeker inbelow is an interesting editorial on the march of gay rights, how it got started, and how it's radical members seek to make changes in society.
the "story" has been omitted from this post due to length of article.

Reading something else into it? Just the title and the first few paragraphs show how strong an agenda this article has:
---"THE MARKETING OF EVIL"---
---"or we claim – utterly without evidence – that "gayness" is an inborn, genetic trait.
"Reality, however, lies somewhere else. Deep down, people of conscience know homosexuality is neither an innocent, inborn "minority" characteristic like skin color, nor a conscious choice to become evil and to corrupt others."---
So evidence is required to show being gay is inborn, but "people of conscience" (no evidence) know better? Sounds like a WT article at least in that part. -

Just started raining here. Lightning and lots of wind. Supposed to rain tomorrow too. Hasn't rained in a while so it's nice.
